I missed the official “Data privacy Day” because I don’t social media on Sundays, but here’s a guide for anyone looking to get started on learning about/improving their #privacy.
I would like to share with you
this article I wrote last year to guide privacy beginners and more advanced alike towards improving privacy online using easy, accessible, and slowly incremental steps.
I tried to build it so
it would be encouraging and easy to follow in a casual way. In incremental order or not.
No prior knowledge required! 📚
I hope you find it helpful :awesome:
Dream about how much more freer you might feel
if BY DEFAULT you had the certainty that none of your data would be tracked or collected by anyone or anything against your explicit consent.
No one and no bot would scan what you write online :ablobcatbongokeyboard:
No one and no bot would scan, steal, or store your pictures :blobcatphoto:
No algorithm would analyze what you post and with whom you interact :robot_3:
No one could know what websites you visited :tor:
No one could know your location from your online content or interactions 📍
No one would take photos or videos of you without your explicit consent at events, when you shop, when you travel, when you go out for errands :blobcatcamera:
What you decide to delete would be deleted everywhere, permanently, instantly, easily, and you would have this option with all the data and accounts you have :nes_fire:
Think about how much more
freedom, safety, and peace of mind we would have.
Many people fail to understand the importance of creating business models that move away from #surveillance capitalism.
Targeted advertising is not the individual issue of a single person being annoyed by ads as they browse, but rather an unethical business practice where users' right to #privacy is not respected, with their #data being collected and sold for the profit of big corporations.
This #DataPrivacyDay remember that protecting your data does not mean there is anything wrong that you need to hide. Privacy is a human right.

On Privacy Day 2024, we answer the EU Commission’s call for reflection on how the GDPR has been functioning by pointing out two ways in which the GDPR has been applied that actually may harm people’s privacy. https://cfl.re/3SwXHGd#DataPrivacyDay
@Tutanota you get to know that a company truly offers and fights for privacy when it gets bullied and attacked by authorities so hard they get out of the shadows and still don't break it. That's what happened with tuta. I watched it closely and doubled on using it. I wish you more success and glory. Happy #dataprivacyday

@Tutanota Privacy is a basic right, regardless of which part of the world we live in. Unless it is part of my work, I absolutely avoid using any service which does not respect Privacy. #dataprivacyday
