Deals on Kindles may seem attractive, but don't forget Amazon is one of the most devoted peddlers of DRM. We prefer books we can loan to our friends, free of restriction and prying eyes. Read more about how to live DRM-free: https://u.fsf.org/1aj

tip of the day:

If you will never, ever enable video/audio in your browser, and you want to stop receiving notifications every time disabling DRM prevents media from playing, then go to about:config and change browser.eme.ui.enabled to false.

Source was from Reddit: https://libreddit.northboot.xyz/r/firefox/comments/l2g44d/how_to_get_rid_of_you_must_enable_drm_to_play/gk5yudb/

This will also remove the toggle in Settings to turn DRM back on, so if you ever need DRM again, you'll have to remember this about:config setting.

I guess HP finally did it.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/02/hp-wants-you-to-pay-up-to-36-month-to-rent-a-printer-that-it-monitors/

They are now selling printers as part of a subscription service to save you "the hassle of owning a printer and running out of ink".

At least for now, there doesn't seem to be an upfront cost but that may change over time.
