Getting some more interesting results from {midiblender}. A couple composition tests and short "housey" track

Here's the longer track that I messed with in ableton.

Had a bunch of fun with this one. Got some drum beats working with euclidean rhythms, and started on some compositional ideas with notes and stuff.

I put one 3-track sequence into Ableton and it didn't sound half bad.

Too much coding for one day though, brain melt has set in.

This latest mangling experiment is actually pretty dope. I'm getting point estimates of note occurrence probability in the mario theme song, and then filtering the midi file like a low or high pass filter, except the filter deletes notes based on their probability. I wish I had this in eurorack. But, will do for now.

Getting somewhere with {midiblender} and making endless mario music sound less random!

Ended up making quite a bit of progress on {midiblender}, which will be an experimental generative music R package, mostly for probabilistic midi mangling. Testing it out on my blog, not quite ready to share the code on github, but coming soon.

Figured out how to go from midi bars to a matrix representation and back! Opens up lots of possibilities. Here I do some probabilistic mario music based on note x time probabilities calculated from the matrix representation.

Generative "music" for features the Langton's Ant from my "Grow a seed" continuously modifying a drum pattern sent as notes to the Korg Volca Beats. The wobbly functions from another previous prompt control the pitch of arpeggiated tones synthesized using the Sound library which I never used before.

Perhaps a bit too chaotic for

A coloured 10x16 grid of tiles is modified by a Langton ant. One row is highlighted and advances downwards each step. One tile colour is brighter than the others which determines the MIDI pattern to send to a Korg Volca Beats which emits percussion sounds. A white comet traces a curvy path to the right of the tile grid. An arpeggio of tones vary in pitch according to the movement of the comet.

Finished my second ! I try to make something real and good for every prompt. Some always succeed far better than others. I learn a lot and am left with many threads to pick up and explore. Have really enjoyed seeing everyone's work this genuary, nice job all! Here's a little generative goodbye song, sung by simplex noise tuned to a minor key.

Wavy lines squeeze in to the notes, while colors squares in center fade in and out to the notes.

I was feeling pretty burnt out on so I decided to try something totally new to me today... generative music. After watching a great tutorial (linked in the soundcloud description) I made this. It's basic but I'm excited to experiment more with soon.

Revisited some older music software I made in and . I swore it'd be the last time I'd use Unity. We'll see.
It was very fun to explore this work and see how much effort I'd put in. I still think it's a fun way to explore
