@below the style attribute overrides the fill attribute in the browser, I believe. Makes since that Finder and Xcode would ignore it since they are not browsers.
@croc Thanks for having a look! QuickLook reads the style attribute, too. And is this attribute somehow not in the standard?
But my main question remains, how do I get an svg that will be rendered correctly by the SDKs? Preferably not by editing it by hand …
I've started reading the tutorials for Inkscape and I am delighted. It has a well-thought-out conceptual model, a clean and powerful interface, and attention to keyboard accessibility.
The one thing I can't seem to find is documentation on the connection point tool. Where is it? How do I add connection points so arrows attach to the edges of objects instead of their centers?
@peterdrake I suppose I should try it again. I despise modern Adobe, but I'm an illustrator power user, and I thought Inkscape was absolutely terrible - but I bailed on it about 3 years ago. Hopefully it has improved some. I found it very, very, very buggy
So it's finally happened. I'm tired of ☠️-ing Adobe software. With its shift to AI and other dubious practices I'm finally switching to #FOSS alternatives.
For photoshop I'm using #Krita; Illustrator, #Inkscape, tho now I'm looking for an indesign alternative. So far #Scribus seems the most popular. And I might have to get a free trial of indesign to export my existing books into XML format 🙃
Anyone know any other alternatives? #OpenSource#software#windows#askmastodon#opensourcegraphics
I know you're not supposed to reply to #trolls and all that clap-back stuff in politics is a bit like feeding the anger machine (sorry Takei). I just... kinda had-to. Sorry 😅
Oh and "bro" don't get me started. What even are those things he mentioned. I've never heard of either of them.
@doctormo Yeah, being cross platform boosts your userbase tremendously. Like VLC and OBS, their numbers on non-Linux are more than the total number of Linux users worldwide, probably :D
#inkscape Bug accelerator program starts today for me. That's where the Inkscape project pays some of the maintainers to focus time on fixing bugs for the next release. (Tav, me and Vaibhav this release) 🎉
If you do testing for Inkscape, make sure your issues are tagged (and tested against) for 1.4.x and prioritized. I'm only contracted to fix things in that list!
Oooh, #GraphiteEditor has the node graph functionality, which allows you to compose vector objects from the primitives like fill, stroke, transform and live filters in a visual manner!
Node graph interface and filters both give me this nice break-out I needed after LPEs in #Inkscape. Don't get me wrong: that program is THE legend, developers are masters of vectors, and it's purely native Gtk toolkit on which application is built. Right now, their priority is CMYK support, so follow if you're into printing.
I just love to experiment with shiny new software that's #OpenSource, especially one that uses #RustLang and #web to its advantage.
Watch 'em apply circular repeat filter on a mere line to produce this fun sparkle effect. (It is Graphite's official channel, by the way. Wish they were on Mastodon?)
@vintprox thanks for sharing this! Never heard of graphite before, but I starred this and hope to tinker with it soon. I've been trying to tear my partner away from macOS and Adobe for the past three years since I migrated to Linux desktop and this tool could be a gamechanger! Then I'd just need a killer self hosted browser based photo library/DAM.
Speaking of self-hosted libraries, I discovered that, unnfortunately, media powerhouse Jellyfin doesn't has photo albums yet. Would be a great time just casually switching between my favorite movies, music and photos.
Are you an #Affinity Designer user? Are you an #inkscape user too? Do you want to help the community?
Well do I have a job for you!
I've made a How To guide for building a keyboard shortcut profile and if you make one for #AffinityDesigner I will add it to Inkscape and millions of people will get the option of using a keyboard preference more comfortable to their existing Affinity habits.
@afranke Thanks for pointing that out! It does look pretty similar, albeit with slightly different symbology. I’ll see if I can do some tweaks to Beyond Expiry’s to distinguish it more.
