If you're in Lancaster, but are not heading up to HighestPoint tonight, then you could do a lot worse than joining #ProfDJ for some jazz-fusion grooves tonight, at Runner Duck Wine Room (King's St. Lancaster).
You can enjoy that sweet spot between soul and funk and jazz alongside some lovingly curated wine, and a great atmosphere.
If you around Lancaster tonight, why not join ProfDJ for a night of classic soul - from Motown to Northern Soul, from Stax to the Sound of Philadelphia & Chicago... every one's going to be a classic - and yes there's be Marvin & Aretha in the mix.
It'll be happening at Runner Duck Wine Room (King's St.) from around 8.30-midnight - great sounds, great wine, what's not to like?
If you're in Lancaster (UK) tonight you could always join ProfDJ for his Eclectic Jukebox at Runner Duck Wine Room (Kings St.).... for a change, no theme, just a collection of great records, all spun on vinyl - like a human spotify shuffle.
Come along, be surprised by what the next record is, and enjoy some expertly curated wine...
If you're in Lancaster (UK) on Good Friday evening, you could always join ProfDJ for his Eclectic Jukebox night at Runner Duck Wine Room.... for a change, no theme, just a collection of great records, all spun on vinyl.
Come along, be surprised by what the next record is, and enjoy some expertly curated wine...
I'm learning about #gis while building a #django app to manage the arboretum at #lancaster#cemetery. The blue markers are our trees, and the red polygons are #garden plots.
As we head towards #ValentinesDay#ProfDJ is hosting a #lovers night at Runner Duck Wine Room (Kings St. #Lancaster) on Friday.... we're going to get all loved up.
Why not pop down with your loved one, taste some lovingly curated wine, stare into each others' eyes & sing along with some great love songs....
if you were wondering why their is a serous morale issue in #highereducation....
it seems that the VC at #Lancaster University (my erstwhile academic home) has managed to secure a 6.7% pay uplift this year (at the same time staff pay rises were limited to 3%).
The #university managerial class is becoming more like its private sector equivalent, but then again this fits with the increasing marketisation of the university sector.
#ProfDJ is back at Runner Duck Wine Room (King's St. #Lancaster) on Friday night for an evening of music from the 1970s... its always a good one, not least as I can get all nostalgic for my teens.
There'll be TRex, Labelle, Ace, Mott the Hoople, David Bowie & loads of more sounds from a decade that produced so much iconic music that three & half hours hardly seems to be able to it justice.
If you fancy enjoying some great wine while soaking up sine classic music, this is the night for you!
For those of us who live in or new #Morecambe, the derelict site of Frontierland (featured last year in The Bay) has been an eyesore & wasted opportunity on the seafront for years.
Three years ago #Lancaster Council bought the site & now, as the public consultation period ends, it looks like redevelopment might actually get under way.... to complement the new #EdenProjectNorth which is just the other side of the Midland Hotel.
No-one in #Morecambe & #Lancaster will be surprised that local MP David Morris voted to support the #RwandaBill... he always does what the PM tells him.
But next time you hear him say anything about breaking the law, you might remind him that he voted for a bill designed to do exactly that (sidestepping our commitments in #internationallaw).
If you're planning you #NewYearsEve in advance, and live in the #Lancaster area, this year #ProfDJ is (once again) hosting a NYE party at the Stonewell Tap (Church St.) - great artisan beers on tap & if previous years are a guide (they are!) well be having as ball bringing in 2024.
Quite apart from concerns about the costing & planning for #RishiSunak's #NetworkNorth rail proposals (intended to replace aspects of #HS2), for those of us living in #Lancaster & the surrounding areas, once again the large urban area of Lancaster-Morecambe is right in the middle of a blank area....
There's a strange blindness about Lancaster; we have a top 10 University, a major new visitor economy development (Eden North) & a large population yet somehow are always missing from plans!
Its sometimes difficult to decide how important things like this are buy I'll note that #Lancaster City Council has toped the Climate Emergency UK District Council scorecard ranking.
While there is work to be done, LCC is clearly doing a lot better than other District Councils in working towards the #greentransition.
When national & global action on the #climatecrisis is lacking then at least local action can do something (provided DC are not driven into bankruptcy).
If you'd like you #JukeBoxFridayNight to be a little more social than sitting at home sampling the delights of #spotify... why not join #ProfDJ for a night of 70s music at The Stonewell Tap (Church St. #Lancaster).
there'll be nostalgia galore (from glam rock to Marvin Gaye, from Carly Simon to pub rock) all spun on #vinylrecords & you can enjoy the music while experiencing a range of artisan #beer second to none.
Escape the sh*tshow & let me entertain you
(with apologies to Mr Williams)
Tired of the sh*tshow, live in or near #Lancaster?
Why not join #ProfDJ for a wallow in 70's musical nostalgia at the Stonewell Tap (Church St.) on Friday - great music (all on #vinylrecords), fab artisan #beer and an easy walk home... if you live in town
