J’ai eu l’honneur et le plaisir de préfacer l’édition du manuscrit de « At the Mountains of Madness » (« Les Montagnes hallucinées »), de H.P. Lovecraft, aux Éditions des Saints Pères :
Ce fut un travail fascinant. J’ai adoré guider les lecteurs dans leur approche de ce manuscrit. L’écriture de Lovecraft est particulièrement lisible, et on voit parfaitement l’œuvre s’élaborer au fur et à mesure des pages. (A noter que comme Lovecraft n’avait pas d’argent, il écrivait au verso de lettres qu’il recevait – ces lettres sont publiées intégralement dans la présente édition).
Une longue introduction de S.T. Joshi vient compléter cette édition - à ne pas rater pour qui s'intéresse à Lovecraft !

Mes compagnons de jeu me tannent pour que je masterise cet univers, je commence à me laisser convaincre, je cherche des one shots bien marquants pour commencer à explorer...

Jej tata powiedział, że to kupa gówna, że nikt nie ma pojęcia, co się dzieje, a ona była skłonna się z nim zgodzić.
New Horizons wróciła, ignorując swoje oprogramowanie i wykorzystując Plutona jako grawitacyjną procę, która wystrzeliła go w stronę wnętrza Układu Słonecznego, cisnęła przez niemal próżnię, zimno i miliony kilometrów z powrotem na Ziemię. Sonda rozbiła się gdzieś na Saharze albo w Morzu Kaspijskim czy w Skandynawii. Nikt nie był pewien, jako że stacje śledzenia pokazywały liczne miejsca lądowania.
Lecz sonda wróciła z tajemnicami, a naukowcy mogli wiecznie chwytać się brzytwy i już zawsze nie mieć pojęcia, czym są te tajemnice. New Horizons wróciła, R'yleh powstała, śpiący się obudził.
I zaczął się Koniec.

Howard, Camus et Lovecraft : un ami m’envoie cette photo de livres dans une librairie à l aéroport de Minneapolis.
Ce n’est pas la première fois que je vois mon grand-père à côté de Lovecraft.
Déjà, en 2018, lors de mon séjour à Providence, j’étais entré dans une librairie de livres d’occasion dont j’avais entendu l’appel pour y trouver côte à côte « The Outsider », de Camus, et « The Outsider and other stories », de Lovecraft.
Étonnant non ? Ou pas. (Pas.)
Happy to see that Frogwares is still working on this as a series, though knowing the (multiple) endings to the first game, I'll be curious to see if they treat this as a stand alone story or a continuation of some sort....
