More than 100 NYPD cops identified as potential problem officers were flagged second time, concerning NYCLU, police critics
NEW YORK — An New York Police Department program designed to identify police officers likely to break departmental rules has red-flagged more than 100 cops for a second time — raising concerns that efforts to rein in potentially problematic officers are ineffective.
An aside in the story from that last boost: "four state troopers in an eastern Connecticut barracks intentionally creating hundreds of bogus traffic stop tickets to boost their productivity numbers… one trooper was suspended for 10 days, another was suspended for two days and the other two retired" - regular folks caught falsifying government paperwork tend to be treated rather differently
"Edward Mullins, Former President Of NYPD Sergeants’ Union, Sentenced To Two Years In Prison For Stealing Union Funds … In total, between 2017 and 2021, MULLINS stole at least $600,000 from the SBA through the filing of hundreds of fraudulent expense reports"
Pretty brazen even by the hilariously corrupt standards of the #NYPD#SBA
The next N.Y.P.D. commissioner will have to contend with the mayor, a wary police force eager for clear leadership and a city worried about both crime and the use of force.
#Jazz genius Miles Davis was born OTD in 1926. You might think his celebrity status would have shielded him from the institutionalized #racism of his era. You'd be wrong. Here's Miles, beaten bloody by a NYC cop in 1959 outside a club, after recording "Kind of Blue."
NYC Schools Handcuff and Haul Away Kids in Emotional Crisis
Despite a pledge to stop relying on police to deal with students who have mental health episodes, New York City schools have continued to call 911 on kids in distress thousands of times a year, an investigation by @THECITY and ProPublica found.
So, this guy solicited nude videos from an undercover police officer he believed to be a minor in 2018. It took nearly five years to convict him and (apologies but I’m going to use all caps here) HE REMAINED AN ACTIVE DUTY NYPD OFFICER UP TO HIS CONVICTION THIS WEEK. In the press release, the NYPD goes on and on about how he betrayed his oath but they don’t seem bothered with letting him keep his badge for years after he did.
This Man’s Conviction Was Overturned After Two Years in Prison. But the City Said He Didn’t Deserve a Dime.
A jury found #NYC liable for #NYPD rights violations in a case city lawyers fought for years. Critics say the hardball approach helps perpetuate a cycle of #police misconduct.
The judge said that in her 22 years on the bench, she’d never seen documentation of the city’s constitutional failures “like the evidence I’ve heard in this case.”
In 2009, Peter Thiel said “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.”
Peter meant his own “freedom” to annihilate the existing world order so he can rebuild it in his own image. That’s why he built an empire that both causes and profits from chaos, suffering and death.
Here’s former #NYPD and #LAPD Police Chief, racist William Bratton extolling the virtues of “predictive policing” and describing, in 2014, a “Minority Report” type user interface in which he can tell when crimes will be committed in the future, which is exactly what Palantir promises.
The extent and specifics of the relationship between #Palantir and the NYPD/LAPD have been intentionally obscured for nearly two decades. #PFT
