I have been playing Middle-Earth: Shadow of War the last few days, which is not a bad game, even if it seems lacking in comparison to Shadow of Mordor.
But it made me think about Sauron in #dnd again, that is, #odnd: he's basically a lich, isn't he? Powerful spellcaster, sort of undead, has an item that contains part of his power and... actually we don't really know so much about him from LOTR, he shows up like once when he gazes through the palantir.
During one of the last eps of Wandering DMs it was pointed out that in white box #odnd 8th level fighters (superheroes was the class title) had the ability to detect invisibility.
I never noticed that before, but I also never delved that deep into it.
I do actually like that idea though. It kinda fits with a lot of the fiction where high level warriors have an almost supernatural sense for hidden enemies.
Please respond by saying what sorts of TTRPG things you're pretty likely to either talk about or respond to if you see them.
This can be a list of games (D&D! Tribe 8! Fate!) or categories (the weirdest of indie stuff! NSR! Anything PBtA!), topics (Worldbuilding! Publishing!), stuff you're making, meta-commentary (The State Of The Industry), and so on.
Then maybe share, and if the replies are building up, check them for new people.
@LeviKornelsen I really enjoy all sorts of convos about GM/Ref business, especially #hexcrawls and sandbox elements, tools, etc. Mechanically, I’m most likely to hop into #dnd, #odnd, #adnd, #osr, or #nsr talk as I’m most familiar with those systems. I’ve got #traveller and #pendragon on my to-play list so I definitely keep my eyes peeled for posts about those. General #worldbuilding is fun too. Always looking for topics and materials to highlight on my YouTube channel, #hexedpress.
