Why does the need so many different updates and why do they take so bloody slow.

I’m very intrigued by the , but the reason I want it is to specifically play PS+ indie games that are mostly also available on the . So does it make sense to grab a Portal and play those games through my subscription? Or just buy them on the Switch?

Maybe the crowd can help me out with this one!

Happy ☕️☀️

Three new tests today

  1. Kids school drop off. 4G hotspot connection. Took about a minute and a half to connect to . Tried out . Game was playable but did notice some choppiness. Not ideal game for 4G speeds.

  2. At work. Work Wi-Fi blocked connection to my PS5. 😔

  3. 5G connection hotspot from my phone at work. Took about a minute to connect. Tried NHL24 again. Game play was seamless 😎🎮

More thoughts to come as I do more testing😀

New things! Takes about 3 minutes from cold boot to connect to a rest mode PS5 to connect. PS5 is hard wired. From a cold boot to an already on PS5 almost instant.

First impressions of the

  1. Updates take about 5-10 minutes on a fast connection.

2 Setup with PS account goes easy

3 Game play is solid. Played PS5 and PS4 games without issues. Had a little glitch in . Didn’t cause any issues though

More thoughts will come 😎🎮

Let me know if you want to know anything 👊🏻

The Portal truly is a bad, misguided product.

I question whether its management team should ever again be in charge of anything half as important as it should have been.

I'm hopeful for the next week. I tested Remote Play on an iPad since that's the closest comparison.

2 advantages it has over Chiaki on is support, including haptics, gyro, and touchpad support. So many PS5 games rely on those features, and some don't work without them. The other advantage is that it works over any network, and does not need to be on the same one.

Customer demand has been strong with restocks being sold out quickly.

Finally back home with a again. All the games I missed are now included with so I’ll have quite a backlog. One reason I stopped playing my PS5 was the games were too expensive. Waiting a couple years solved that

also works great on . I’m now debating whether to keep my preorder. But it’ll have larger screen, 1080p (vs 720p), adaptive triggers and rumble.

We don't know the numbers but the seems to be a popular preorder. It has sold out multiple times at online retailers before being restocked

That's despite mainstream journalists, like , constantly saying that streaming is a service without a market

There were rumours that Xbox attempted a streaming stick but thought it had to be sub-$100 and couldn't make it happen. Portal's $200 price seems tolerable

Wow, seems like the real deal.

  • Level diversity that never got stale or repetitive

  • Badges that change the gameplay for replayability and difficulty

  • Well-designed online and local multiplayer with multiple new modes

  • Social interaction tools within levels

  • A massive interactive overworld

I’m sure is high for a lot of gamers! 😎

You’ll be able to stream PS5 games this month—but only on an actual PS5 - Enlarge / Horizon: Forbidden West.

I recently preordered the . I was surprised to see that despite the negative response it was at the top of Amazon’s sales charts for accessories, and for “controllers”.

It seems to be sold out there now though.

I truly struggle to understand the use case for the PlayStation Portal. Who is this for?

I have mixed thoughts about PlayStation Portal.

I think the hardware looks neat and makes sense for around-the-house more than on-the-go. Sony knows how to do inputs, so grafting a DualSense to a small tablet is not the worst idea for a handheld gaming device!

They also go out of their way to say it’s not compatible with PlayStation Plus streaming, even when those games are streaming to the linked PS5 (likely due to bidirectional bandwidth issues). But streaming directly from PlayStation Plus seems like such an obvious reason for this handheld to exist! Surely they’re working on that?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Stadia was good, actually. 😉 And I think Sony is closest to being able to replicate it.
