As many supporters of the Shannon class Lifeboat asked for it, the project has been updated in a lighter orange than the original design. This update also shows off the redesigned SLARS in the main images.
Spread the word, and let’s launch a Shannon.

This evening I had the pleasure of opening this wonderful photography exhibition at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the RNLI (on Monday). It focuses on the women in the RNLI, and it’s great. Do go! It’s free…

A visit to The North York Moors yesterday which included Pickering, Goathland, Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby. At Robin Hood’s Bay there is the oldest lifeboat collection box in the world dated 1886. It is also the smallest listed structure in the U.K.

Thinking about heading to the beach, please do not take or use inflatables!

Globally, around 236,000 lives are lost to drowning every year, according to World Health Organization (WHO) estimates.
On average, there are 97 water related fatalities each year in Scotland.

Support World Drowning Prevention Day as a member of Water Safety Scotland.

Trying to drum up some empathy for billionaires who get lost in a submarine on thier way for a jolly trip to a mass grave at the bottom of the sea for the Lolz ....

Nope, can't do it. Fuck 'em.

Having nearly been drowned once (and saved by the wonderful ) it's not a fate I would wish on anybody. Have a little more charity than the average billionaire and be loved for who you are and not what you own.

An exception would be the proposed defunders of the RNLI (I'm looking at you Nigel Farage and your GBeebie friends) . Chucking them in the deep end might just change their minds.

A reminder that a mobile phone makes walking alone safer, but is not all you need.

In a six-hour operation, Kyle RNLI crew rescued a hillwalker who had been trapped for 24 hours on a narrow coastal ledge in the remote area of Kinloch Hourn, where it's difficult to pick up a phone signal.
