I feel much smarter today. I finally learned the difference between broth and stock.

Broth is made from the meat. Stock is made from the bones.

Not that this is going to up my game much, but it's handy to know.

Making one of my favorite soups on a slightly overcast day: Moroccan lentil and chickpea soup. I first saw this in Cook's Illustrated April 2018. This online version matches it. The seasonings are so fabulous!

  1. The dandelions are blooming, gilding the roadsides with spatters of sunshine-yellow.

  2. Chatting in the sunshine with friends at school drop-off.

  3. My ideal lunch, al fresco: spicy noodle soup, cool water, and a fresh book.

For those that like Olive Garden. If you normally get soup with your meal, then you should know that they will be retiring one of their soups and replacing it with another one. The soup they will be retiring is Pasta Fazool. The last day they will be serving Pasta Fazool is May 31st. So if this is your favorite, then be sure to visit your local Olive Garden and get you some. The new soup they will be introducing on June 1st is Potato Carbonara.
