I was checking out speech-to-text and text-to-speech software and models for Linux and Android. based on experience, Festival seems the best in TTS and Vosk is the best at STT, but they both are not smooth. The Festival have not been updated for years, and Vosk seems very suspicions as they don't say where they are from and who is developing it.

Does anyone knows any libre alternative to either of them?

Today in my web browsing history: The tech sector waxing lyrical about 's upgrades to , which include and capabilities, meanwhile on Wikipedia, which was scraped to train many LLMs, begs for donations.

All of the content we've placed online has been mined, processed, refined, and is being sold back to us.

For many of us, that's a new experience.

But I suspect that for those from the global South, it's a repeat of centuries of colonisation.

Just dropped on the App Store: #RHVoice for #iOS. For now only #Macedonian and #Albanian languages are supported but it's worth bookmarking/installing this now to follow updates. Again, new linguistic communities have been included to the #Apple ecosystem with high-quality, free-of-charge voices. https://apps.apple.com/pl/app/rhvoice/id6444378148?l=pl #Accessibility #Blind #SpeechSynthesis #TextToSpeech #Languages
