This is one of the reasons I make my own ebikes. VanMoof looked cool, but a right to repair nightmare and now the typical IoT nightmare when the cloud behind it goes "poof!".
I saw this advert from 1956 on Instagram and can’t work out how a fridge from nearly 70 years ago basically has better features than the fridge I own now.

@losttourist I thought it was absolutely hilarious that a third-party has reverse-engineered the #vanMoof app so owners can actually carry on using their bikes, which they have bought and paid for but don’t work properly without their servers 😏
