Okay, plan is to create a personal blog during December. Based on recent follows, I need to include a Now page, a Defaults page, a Blogroll, and maybe one that indicates what topics/subjects I'm interested in. Any other key pieces of content?
@AnthonyBaker@Luke@kellysims Just the mention of Expression Engine makes me break out in hives. Almost a decade ago, @bw and I built an ecommerce site on top of EE for @typecon registration.
Fall in the #PNW isn’t always sunny, but when it is — especially sunny and cold (which I love), it’s time to soak in the rays like a damn dog or cat, lying around and feeling the warmth on the face. So nice. #grateful
I never envisioned becoming a keyboard nerd, but somewhere along the way I started down the path. To wit, I didn't need to buy the NuPhy Air75 v2 low profile mechanical keyboard, but OMG I'm so glad I did.
Is buttery-goodness a phrase applied to keyboards? If not, I take credit. Such a delight to use. Works brilliantly for the Mac. Can't rave enough.
@AnthonyBaker I was extended until I dug into the mechanical keyboards. I got my apple extended out last year and just couldn't use it anymore. It took up too much real estate and I now appreciate the mechanical keys so much more.
@Brilliantcrank@Luke@scottboms@Mako So, I’ve been thinking. As we continue to re-wild the Internet and move back to RSS and blogs and whatnot — does there exist a collective site that promotes/categorizes good follows/reads? With RSS links?
If not, might be a good side project for 2024. And no, I’m not talking about building Yahoo again. 😁
@Luke no limit - but if i do it, it’s usually under 30. i am by no means any kind of expert napper, though i do have a lot to say about regular sleeping. have developed some mastery there over the years, thankfully.
Apple Podcasts downloads the most recent FIVE episodes of a podcast when you subscribe. I subscribe to a lot, and this ends up chewing through a huge amount of my phones HD. I now set to none every time. Wonder how many “downloads” shows get stem from this default…
Just wanted to pop in and say how much I love #mastodon, the #fediverse, #activitypub and all the great things arising out of the social media dumpster fire of late.
Love seeing the re-wilding of the internet, the rise of blogging and RSS again, people posting things they’re interested in versus trying to take advantage of some algorithm…
Looking forward to seeing where this is all going in 2024 and doing my best to help along the way.
Am in Missouri for the week visiting family and saw a DAMNED ROBOT at a grocery store. A ROBOT. I live in the Seattle area — all high tech as hell — and have never seen anything like this. Sucker makes its way down isles scanning shelves and calculating inventory needs.
@AnthonyBaker@Luke Wide open here in Phoenix too. According to National Retail Federation, average shrink rate has increased in the last year, from 1.4 to 1.6%. Employee theft and spoilage are still largest categories of shrinkage. And I see the Targets closed due to “theft” had lower overall shrink levels than other Targets in the metro area. So 🧐 Hard to believe everything you see, especially when so much of it is posted on social media to get views. Wish we had better info.
@Luke My sub is up soon — likely to just jump ship. Tried with Affinity 1x but went back to Adobe. But owning software is awesome. That said, credit to Adobe for continuing to innovate with their apps. They’re trying to be good drug dealers, at least. Keep ‘em coming back for the good stuff.
@greg Heck, I don’t know yet. But didn’t even know that was a thing. Definitely a serif though. Like Bookerly, just getting bored of it and do not like any of the Kindle’s other options.
“Oh Good, Hurricanes Are Now Made of Microplastics”
When Hurricane Larry made landfall two years ago, it dropped over 100,000 microplastics per sq m of land per day.
Larry had picked up the microplastics at sea, lofted them into the air, and dumped them on Newfoundland. A Newfoundland study notes that Larry happened to pass over the garbage patch of the North Atlantic Gyre, where currents accumulate floating plastic.
Anyone know why, when I delete a text from my Mac, that same text isn’t deleted from Apple Watch or iOS devices? Is there some setting I’m missing to do so? Thanks in advance. #apple
@AnthonyBaker I’m an idiot. I didn’t read it thoroughly enough.
I’ve seen that in the past when I was using an email + phone on a device and not the same settings on another device. I’ve also seen glitches where I had to turn off iCloud and turn it back on. I would expect the watch to just mirror the phone but not sure.
@Brilliantcrank Hey — when you went to the U2 show, any issues with motion sickness? Asking for the wife. Did some searches on Twitter on the subject, but limited responses and no one who was actually there.
