How The iPhone 15 Pro camera works and why you’ll want to shoot 24MP photos...

Interview with the camera folks, a pretty good read. Be sure to search for the word "goldilocks" to learn why 24MP is optimal.

Camera pros: Any quibbles with any of this? 🤔

https://petapixel.com/2023/09/18/apple-explains-what-the-iphone-can-and-cant-do-and-why/

BKLronin,

@davemark Hmm, sounds like if you want a good raw you can work with, you are out of luck with an Iphone.

The dynamic range, the focal lenghts and the detail are all computed.

The lenses at that size will never be able to capture the detail, purely limited by physics. They try hard with angled prisms but they harldy can serve enough detail for the tiny sensors.

Its cool for snapshots and amateurs though.

  • BKLronin,

@gcrkrause I'm not even thinking of doing anything right at all anymore but I was often right in hindsight.

It’s nuts to me that is coming back in . Went to my local camera store and they have a three week lead time on developing film because so many people are doing it.

As someone who took a lot of film photos… I’ma pass on this trend 😬🤣

    BKLronin,

@cdlhamma The last time it came back was circa 10years ago.

    BKLronin,

@cdlhamma Ah I see, I still have a roll of film left :D

Its cool, I always wanted to try developing b&w film.

I want to check out but feel like I'd get frustrated with the turn based fighting. Anyone out there not usually a turn based fan enjoying this game?

    BKLronin,

@cdlhamma Turn based is actually a very intense type of game.

It takes some time to get into it, mostly because the games are mostly easy at the beginning but the limited actions add some interesting thrill to it.

Wasteland 3, Xcom, Divinity, Final Fantasy, BG2.

You can't miss all these :(

    BKLronin,

@cdlhamma Totally understandable. You got to have a little bit of interest for chess or other board games ideally. It definetely has hard drug potenital once you found a way into it.

  • BKLronin,

@gcrkrause Jay! You mean Argon8. I got the short version and I´m on my way to loving it. (Still got the screen protector on)

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause Thats good news, many tend towards the cobalt but Iḿ already covered with analog in a few ways so wavetable seemed more interesting. I always wondered if it was the right decision, a little.

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause I think it has plenty of tools in all categories. At least Iḿ getting something useful in every genre so far. I initally went for it because of the sequncer for chord progression writing even with off timing and the good quality overall especially the keyboard.

I like it too, its my main keyboard now. The old fatar had hammer mechanics I think or semi? I think thats more necessary when you are used to pianos than on a synth anyway.

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause Yes I think so, the desktop version is a bit more limited, knobwise.

Its nice that they implemented the vintage modes, that really saves LFOS one can use for different stuff.

I made a moog bass for testing as well two days ago driven by gas and wondered how close it can sound and decided that I can cover 99% with the Argon so no need for a model d.

    BKLronin,

    @gcrkrause I see.

I mostly used the Alesis Q49 all the time and from that the difference is huge. The aftertouch was to hard for me in the beginning but Iḿ glad I found the sensitivity setting some days ago. Now it feels and fits pretty prefectly.

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause Hmm usually I prefer the select and then sperate load click for security reasons but there is also "preset auto load" in general settings or if you mean that you have to press "patch" first, you can check the various panel modes so the display always shows the selected page.

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause I see, who plays instruments live :D

Id say some in between device would be nice. Like an esp32 with a webinterface where you predefine the preset chain you need and then just switch with a ordinary padel to the next preset.

Not sure if other synths can do this natively.

    BKLronin,

    @gcrkrause Ah interesting.

Just joking, Im playing live myself mostly with my past self. He really plays the stuff I like and my brain working ram is kinda limited, so I have to write it to disk every 4 bars :D

    Pack and Raft.

A rather simple trip that involved 7km walking with boat shoes on tarmac. I really expected soft forrest trails here but I had to work with whats there :D After a lunch break with some cold nutritious powder in filtered water I made the jump to inflate the boat and transition into the river to head back to the start through some wilder sections with a little white water.

500 letters is really a joke, where are we, SMS land?

A deep green "lagoon" with mirroring calm river section framed by the riverbank and trees in the foregound.
A swan on a dark river standing out together with scattered light form the river foam. Seaweed can bes seen under the surface with long leafs all pulled by the current into one direction.
A river barrier with whitewater sparkling all over and forrest in the background. In the front left the image is bordered with a green riverbank that has white and violett colored flowers on it that lean towards the artificial waterfall.

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause I think split up messages are cluttering the stream. Iḿ used to more chars from the old pleroma account and the GoToSocial one. Its just so much better for microblogging, I constanlty have to cut viable information in a post.

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause Threading is a bit strange, not sure if its an elk thing. I see the last post first in the timeline when scrolling and need to get further down to get the beginning until it makes sense. Would be cooler if just the main thread would be displayed maybe further up in the stream as soemthing new happened or so.

And! The alt text has 1500 chars and the main post 500. Hmk!

I demand at least 750 to express myself properly :D

    BKLronin,

@gcrkrause I´m good with it, this account isnt self hosted and I already moved once. They will increase the limit anyway form my gut feeling.

I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.

She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 13 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle so hard to comprehend large numbers.

Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.

    BKLronin,

@lowqualityfacts People are so boostgeil. We should favorite more.
