An interesting moment for New Zealand’s Rugby players to be considering strike action just as the prime minister scolds protesting workers for planning strike action.

BigD,
@BigD@mastodon.nz avatar

@billbennett
It's ok to go on strike on a weekend because that's what weekends are for.
Rugby is weekend stuff.
Other days are when you do the legal thing. Work, school, the usual stuff.

Our PM has laid out the rules we must follow as good law abiding citizens.

The comment of Luxon's could be challenged but who would win. He walks a thin line in a triparty coalition and he's in a state of who to please the most.
Who listens anymore I wonder.

I'm biased as I've always been discussing politics. Once I was biased toward the right. Once toward the centre. Once toward the left.
In today's environment ( and one that is fragile in many interpretations) , I think I need another choice.
Amalgamation?

Watched Duncan's 1st podcast this morning. Editor in chief.
Interesting interview with an ex employee of a certain Green Party MP.
Duncan's wrap up of the interview hit the nail on the head.
The studio is basic and the technicals need practice "Which button do I push" lol
Maybe talking to the camera would feel more inclusive to a viewer?
But it's a promising start.
I'm usually a non- watcher/listener to morning invasive TV "news shows"
I'll probably watch again tomorrow.

Police know National's new 'tough on gangs' policy is a crock.

When Police recruitment can't keep up with the number of officers leaving, where are they going to find 25 to 30 cops to man their elite gang squad?

Disillusioned officers speak out.

@BobLefridge Seymour "What if they just swapped jackets!"
Luxon "Ahh, no, that would then just be an equilibrium. I was a CEO once and I know these things "
Mitchell"What if we use the same maths as we did for prisons last week "
Winston"Look, I've said it before. We've got serious problems you know and if you can't see them well I'm not going to point them out to you. I can't be expected to help.I'm out there telling the world off."
Luxon. "That's settled then. Next item on the agenda Nicola?"

I am replacing a single bulb in a bedroom with two LED down lights. The room has been modified with a built in closet that insets into the room. Where should I put the two lights?

(Poll next toot)

BigD,
@BigD@mastodon.nz avatar

@mez
If me I would only have one LED down light. They are brighter than the old filament bulbs. I am assuming that you will have bedside lights? These give you lighting obviously when you are in bed so the main LED light would normally be off.
As for wardrobe, maybe the second downlight inside it.
My thoughts based on our lighting layout in similar sized bedroom. But
I tend to err on the side of intimacy lighting for bedrooms :)

BigD,
@BigD@mastodon.nz avatar

@mez Dimmers are great. If one light, I would position approximately at where the foot of the bed would be.
It's good you are planning this because if left to the sparky, the centre no matter what would probably be chosen.
I planned our new homes lighting, but the sparky thought two more in the lounge is needed, so put them in to my disgust. Had to put a dimmer in.

I'm probably (slightly) obsessive about stuff. A few years ago I got into analogue photography (film) then I took a deep dive into glass plate photography. Then I combined my love of glass plate photography with my astronomy obsession, and my analemma fascination was born. So far I have shot 3 successful analemmas. Each one of these images was a year in the making; I took a picture each day at the same time and then had to go into a darkroom and see what developed!

I often wonder why pan bottoms are essentially flat and allow the heat to move right to the sides, up and away...

If they put some ribs there - sure - the heat would still overflow to the sides, but it would not be so fast and more than likely - we could run at lower temps... hence saving money for the heat source.

    The main character seemed to be overworked at doing not a lot( as a doctor )when hell was breaking.
    Maybe the second episode kicked in for her.

    One of the more interesting trends as we go into the climate crisis is that modern meteorology as we know it is coming to an end.

    What's become evident with this winter is that they are all relying on a vast array of sophisticated weather models, but those weather models are really showing no accuracy anymore, particularly in the long-term. So any suggestions as to long-term weather trends are pretty inaccurate. this has pretty big implications going forward
