It seems I totally missed that the PS5 will get a feature akin to Xbox' "co-pilot mode", where you can use two controllers to act as one, either so you can use them to spread inputs, or to have another person assist you.

This is awesome and I totally missed these news!

The exhausting part about being any kind of "left-winged" or stuff like that is that you don't only have to argue and fight with fascists, assholes and such, but also with other left-winged people not satisfied with HOW you fight your common enemy, if you're not "doing it enough" or "are not x enough" or "you mustn't do y if you are one of us".

That's really disappointing. At least online I can block and mute people.
But still feels bad to hear insults from those you constantly defend/support.

I just want an easy way to forward messages from a channel to a channel, but in a way that an image is actually embedded in Discord as visible image and not just as a Link that, for whatever reason, is not shown as embedded image.

But I'm obviously too dumb to get that working with IFTTT, and their error messages aren't helpful at all.

I can't be the first person with that use-case, right!?

@fell I don't think the people I wanted to help with trying this are willing to take care of a third system to get it working. 😅

So far they just had a "Twitter to Discord" bot, but that obviously broke when Twitter killed everything.

So I hoped there would be an equally easy, existing thing for Telegram to Discord, but it seems nothing "easy" at least. :-(

@evi Ah yes, the ice tea where half a liter costs something like 2€ or something...unless you buy it in the Estrel, where one Glass will be 8€. 😁

(Seriously, thought, it's a good-tasting one.)

Although we sure have different experiences: I was shocked when I drank carbonated ice tea for the first time, totally not expecting it to be a thing. 😁

@digitalcourage Für die, die damit Erfahrung haben: Ich finde die Idee an sich gut, aber was für Stellen fragen nach einem Ausweis, akzeptieren aber einen nicht-amtlichen wie diesen?

Natürlich kann man diesen nicht gegenüber Behörden verwenden, aber welche Stellen akzeptieren diesen wirklich? Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass jeder "den echten" sehen will, oder einen halt sonst wegschickt. 😅

@odddev At least in their item descriptions they mention "The Super Leather Face is treated leather that makes it water-resistant and is easy to break in."

From that I'd assume it's treated, regular leather, and thus not vegan, but that's just how I understand it.

Sometimes the internet is really useful. Sometimes...it is not.

I was looking up if you can use 99,9% isopropyl alcohol to clean LCDs.

The answers I found were:

  • Yes, that's fine
  • Yes, but you have to dilute it with 50% water
  • No! Never use that for anything LCD!

Soo...yeah, I guess I'll stick to water or get designated LCD cleaner, even though I assume that stuff is mostly also diluted alcohol or glorified, expensive soap, but I obviously have no clue. 😅

@evi Mh, I'm not sure if I still have the manual, as my monitor is so old, I'm not sure if printing had already been invented by that time. 😁

But seriously, ugh. I think that old thing is by now kinda "uncleanable", thus I hoped that "anything more than water" might maybe help.

But I'll try getting a new microfibre cloth first and try it again. Better not to damage anything I can't afford to replace. 😁

Seeing lots of PC gaming sites claim Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck is "relatively reliable 30 fps" and "performance is actually pretty solid" 🤔🤔🤔

I swear they haven't even played it. The performance on Steam Deck is nowhere near a stable 30FPS.

@kkarhan I really hope that new EU law thingy will give us back phones with easily changeable batteries, but since the first released text kinda included something like that devices for special environments or situations or something may be exempt from it, I've been very pessimistic and expect every single new phone to be released as "yes, BUT THIS ONE is really specially water-proof, so, it doesn't apply to it!", from every single company.

But we shall see. 😁

A recent ticket submitted to /kbin stated

"A significant number of people block remote web fonts..."

I had no idea people would do this, the reasons why seem spurious but there did seem to be some accessibility concerns.

Do you block webfonts?

@pieceofthepie I block 3rd party fonts, but locally hosted ones are fine.

I do that for possible privacy reasons, though, not for accessibility, even though with some websites I'd certainly prefer having my easily readable fonts than some fancy stuff that's small and thin. 😅

I don't use kbin, but Ublock doesn't seem to block, or allow, any fonts there, though, for me. 🤔

@adminforge Ich habe gerade einmal eure Bit- und Vaultwardeninstanzen ausprobiert. In beiden Fällen kann ich die KDF-Option nicht auf Argon2id umstellen, weil scheinbar "webassembly support" notwendig ist.

Ist es geplant diese Funktion in Zukunft zu unterstützen?

I don't get why I still have to deal with RAR-files so often.
Why do people still use RAR?

It's a proprietary format, so the amount of programs ro create them is limited to begin with. (And open formats are love!)

But that aside, zip has far more widespread support, and if you really need the few more percents better encryption, 7zip (and I think PEA) are doing fine.

The only thing RAR has over these are recovery records, and I don't really believe that's what drives most people's choice.

@evi I personally haven't heard anything bad about either, 7zip or PeaZip.

What do you think is PeaZip doing better, or 7zip doing badly?

I'm certainly willing to switch if I'm missing something. 🙂

Since my switch to Linux I was fine just using KDE's "Ark", but I'll certainly keep that in mind and give PeaZip a try should I ever need it again on a Windows system or for something Ark cannot handle for whatever reason. 🙂
