So Google is now preventing people from removing location data from photos taken with Pixel phones.

Obviously, accurate location data on photos is more useful to a data mining operation like Google.
From Google: "Important: You can only update or remove estimated locations. If the location of a photo or video was automatically added by your camera, you can't edit or remove the location."

To elaborate, there are a lot of different types of social media already on the fediverse such as microblogs, regular blogs, image sharing, link sharing and video sharing.
Personally, I'd love to see a gaming-focused social media platform on the fediverse.
Not sure how that will affect libreddit or teddit. That'd would prevent me to get some news on specific channels, which when interesting enough, I brought to lemmy, :)...
How do you do a search for a not yet federated community through the lemmy ui anyway? For instance, if I try to get this quantum computing community from lemmygrad, every time I try to search for it I can't find it. This is the query I'm using
Thanks for the edit. Part of the reason I'm spamming that bot so much is to see how it handles different images, and partly so people know that it exists if they ever want a quick and dirty OCR scan of images in a post or comment.
If most of the usable software is proprietary and the free software movement is ineffective, perhaps the answer is to liberate proprietary codebases by force.
When reading posts sorted by date, I often have the timeline import a whole bunch of old posts from one community at the top. This is annoying since I basically have to reload the page, otherwise all relevant content is gone....
I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but sometimes I'll be browsing posts by new and a bunch of months old posts will be fetched for no apparent reason. This happens to me occasionally, but unfortunately it happens seemingly randomly, so I don't know how to reliably reproduce the issue to find out what's causing the problem.
