TIL: substring match for CSS selectors.

Example for Discord:

div[data-list-item-id*="channels___boosts-"] {
display: none;
}

(which matches "channels___boosts-589878166869246047" on that one particular server.)

Early, quick, and dirty attempts at getting emoji support back after the Debian 11→12 upgrade led me to this comment: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104542#c2

and indeed, emojis are back once hinting is enabled!

CyrilBrulebois,
@CyrilBrulebois@mamot.fr avatar

(It took me months to find about they had gone missing, I think 🍞 in my toaster tool is the only emoji I've ever added anywhere.)

Alright, limiting disk space for kernel stable series was harder than I thought:

[remote "stable"]
url = https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git
fetch = +refs/heads/linux-6.1.y:refs/remotes/stable/linux-6.1.y
fetch = +refs/tags/v6.1.:refs/tags/v6.1.
tagopt = --no-tags

One would thought limiting the fetching to the linux-6.1.y branch would be enough, but every single tag was still being pulled…

CyrilBrulebois,
@CyrilBrulebois@mamot.fr avatar

Worth it though, .git/ down from 40 GB to below 10 GB (for mainline + rpi + stable 6.1.y).

CyrilBrulebois,
@CyrilBrulebois@mamot.fr avatar

@admin Bien évidemment, le problème qui persistait depuis un moment et était reproductible… semble avoir disparu après ce ping.

Fun, that 11→19 upgrade to prepare another 11→12 upgrade (earlier didn't quite like PHP 8.2), that raised what appeared to be Unicode-related exceptions regarding public holidays in Greece… 😂

Moved in to our building 3 years ago.

I have never been able to clean my whiteboard.

I have been for 3 years, trying every single internet tip and trick. Buying cleaning products etc…

Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and emailed our maintenance staff to say that: “I need a new whiteboard, I've essentially tried everything and now there's just no white space left".

About an hour later, someone turned up and with kindness slowly removed the protective film I’ve been writing on for 3 years…

CyrilBrulebois,
@CyrilBrulebois@mamot.fr avatar

@vinceknight @zhenech Reminds me of that time I phone the support team for the brand new coffee machine I was unboxing, that appeared to have suffered some damage… only to find out I just had to remove some protective layer which was responsible for what I thought was damage… Very professional and kind about it, but the mix of laughter/shame/facepalm on my side of the conversation was hard to manage.

Today I finished my term as Debian Project Leader. It feels almost as surreal as having become DPL in the first place. Thanks to everyone who has shown their confidence, support and assistance over the last four years, and more than that, thank you to everyone who has made Debian better, not only as a Linux distribution, but as a global project that we can be proud of!

CyrilBrulebois,

@highvoltage Thanks for all your Debian work in general and for your DPL work in particular! ❤️ 💯 ✅ 👍

Today's fun: deployed on Debian 10 works fine once ca-certificates is tweaked to include the internal CA; but doesn't on Debian 11 with the exact same playbook.

Weird “Unknown error code” in the TLS layer — THANK YOU SO MUCH CRYPTOGRAPHERS FOR ACCURATE ERROR REPORTING.

CyrilBrulebois,
@CyrilBrulebois@mamot.fr avatar

@hyc Thanks for the pointer. I think I'm seeing code that's supposed to do that and that's been here for a while, so maybe I just failed to configure this setting in the right place. I've encountered a ton of different issues, so maybe the testing hasn't been as rigorous as it should have been…

Just thought I'd give others a warning about that config file shipped in ldap-common that definitely helps, even if it's not pulled for sure via dependencies.
