@cheeaun there's a few libraries available, I've been using it for the muli column large screen feeds.

Makes me really wish the Mastodon API provided dimension meta data for attachments (though I understand that's a very tall ask).

Very early sneak-peek experiment, still on my local dev, NOT dev site. Might stash it away if it's too much effort.

Use-cases not handled (yet):

  • Filtered posts
  • Sensitive media
  • Need next/prev nav in media modal, on top of existing next/prev of multiple media in a post, else user will need to click on a media one-by-one
  • Aspect ratio?
  • Audio-only media looks weird here
  • Customizable grid dimension? 😩
  • Masonry layout instead? 😩

    I'm not going to comment on ongoing drama in the fediverse other than to say this:

    If the very public interpersonal problems, accusations, and disagreements (legitimate or not), originating in private discord chats, among the admins of some of the largest fedi instances results in a bifurcation of the progressive (read: not alt-fedi, not troll-fedi) federation, everyone will lose in the end.

    My big fear right now is that this will result in purity tests - like mutually exclusive DNI lists - that preclude federation with all the big progressive instances

    I really hope this all gets sorted without tearing the federation apart

    Just added 2 pizzas to a doordash cart for pizza and movie night for my family of 4.

    Between the price of the pizzas, delivery fees, taxes, convenience fees, and dasher tip, the total was $80.

    80 bucks for 2 pizzas to be delivered. Pizza. The cheap food famous for delivery.

    This is fucking crazy, I don't understand how people are surviving this bullshit.

    @rodhilton I honestly wasn't trying to be obnoxious, just seeing that going through a third party seems to be the brunt of the cost. (Fees are part of that delivery cost)

    I often skip using doordash because it saves me 20-25% to just have my wife send me to pick it up.

    I can understand how that isn't convenient with kids however. I just think it says more about how apps like doordash have just inserted themselves as middlemen and are jacking up costs.

    @volkris I appreciate that context, and I bet there are well meaning people involved, but it still doesn't diminish that some of the experiences ARE these rich people coming to hang out and party in the playa (there's a pop up airport for private planes!).

    I also disagree that theres some media goal to misrepresenting things, the linked podcast episode is a first person account from one of those rich people that was there. The story is directly from him.

    @ratkins @volkris TBH, knowing a lot of these silicon valley types myself, you can help move the needle by showing that there are consequences for actions.

    Right now, from everything that I've seen, read, and anecdotally experienced, they continue living life without any meaningful repercussions.
