these are late bc they required a child to send photos lol but my daughter was on an overnight ferry out in the Pacific ocean (near Haida Gwaii, BC) when the northern lights came.

Discovered an excellent new word today: dreich. Bleak, miserable, cheerless, dreary. It even sounds exactly right when you say. No this is not a comment on my current state of mind. Not at all.
you wouldn't think a small pile of words could cheer you up but my Scottish friend just told me she's going to the Firth of Forth on the fifth (imagine it said very quickly with a strong accent) and I'm really delighted. Sometimes I'm a very simple person lol
