First draft of the #HinterlandDress made with a bedsheet. Very comfy and #ItHasPockets. It’s going to take me a few iterations to get the bodice fit that I really want but this is very wearable.

For day 1 of #MeMadeMay, and probably most days in May, I'm wearing this comfy and practical pyjama top I assembled from a lovely, used flannelette sheet with self-drafted pockets from the #AshtonTop pattern (6 inches and a curved bottom added) as well as flannel shorts I made a year earlier. They have a pretty perfect rise and I expect to make more shorts with that pyjama pattern.

These shorts have taken me a year to complete with thrifted sheets. Although I’d already made a pair out of flannel from a PJ pattern, I was determined to make these with #pockets and #FrenchSeams. I sewed every seam incorrectly multiple times but I kept picking them out and then going back to them a month or so later. They’re finally complete and very comfortable. Access to the pockets isn't as deep as I’d like but they’re good otherwise.

Thanks to @jillithd @whoosh @kdrama I'm going to try this. End of the Year Drama Challenge Day 1: Since when have you been watching dramas? I joined a Discord watchparty group 2023/04/15, started slowly with 1-2 episodes week of It's Okay to Not Be Okay. After I returned from a road trip in late June, I started watched more and more shows as well as taking Duolingo #hangeul lessons. Now, #kdrama is a major, full-time obsession and my Korean listening comprehension is growing exponentially.

Just finished watching #DoomAtYourService last night and there was so much about it that was lovely to me. Hilarious dialogue, strong female lead, great soundtrack (listening this morning), and the fascinating scenery of #JejuIsland for several episodes.

One thing I love about #kdrama is the strong #FemaleGaze in many of the shows.

These 2 women add SO much depth to all of the shows where they play eomeoni/mom, Ajumma/auntie, halmeoni/grandma, and Court Lady Favourite show for Kim Mi-Kyung: Healer Favourite show for Kim Young-Ok: Hometown Cha Cha Cha

I wore this dress earlier in the month when I didn't have my selfie stick. Photo was taken last year. I LOVE this dress, which my tailoring teacher in #ViệtNam helped me with, a lot. My only regret is that it has no #pockets. Made with a fabulous sarong that I bought in #SriLanka.
I constantly get compliments. People love the elephants. Super comfy and easy to wash/dry/ and wear again when I'm travelling. I wish I kept more sarongs, which are unique in each country.

Ugh, starting out a new week with limited energy/ambition. I chose to use Instacart instead of battling the freshly cold weather for Costco run. Feeling very dizzy for no known reason. Trying to find the mojo to clean up the pile of potting soil that I dumped on my living room carpet, knowing full well that my cheap vacuum has very limited suction power. At least I found the gumption to rearrange one bedroom Kallax shelf so that it's no longer blocking my heat source. I'll be needing that heat.

I can't believe that I've made it to day 8 with no repeats but it's been a busy sewing year. This was the second dress I made at #dressmaking classes in #ViệtNam with #BaliBatik. It was a clone of the earlier dress and I especially like the back darts. And of course, #ItHasPockets! Sadly, the batik is shredding in a big way with multiple small holes and bigger rips so it will probably only be worn at home until it's indecent for even that.

It's a good day. After a quiet, smoky day at home yesterday, I started in #kimchi, made aloo palak with eggs for breakfast, watched the second-last episode of #MyLovelyLiar with my #kdrama peeps in 3 countries, and now, it's time to finish the kimchi and get the laundry done.
I'll start yoga strong classes this week as well as a #French discussion group. #hangul learning is going quite well. I made a Quizlet set with a lot of common words/phrases in K-dramas.

Ugh, so other than one brutal winter month, it seems that I've received my highest-ever energy bill in my one b/r apartment this month. In August?!? I have no a/c and I just run a small fan on hot days. I also just locked in lower rates, as far as I know. Is this additional cost all due to my recent #kdrama addiction?!? I rarely run a TV but I've used one for my dual screen while teaching and never had high bills like this. Mystified.

@sewing Here's a recent make being modelled for #MeMadeMay2023 The pattern was one that I bought for $1 and contains men's and boys' pants and raglan Ts. The flannelette was gifted scraps from someone else's Christmas PJ projects. I made the T for myself as my first knit project and I've made a few PJ shorts now for the grandkids. Super quick and easy project and the last one was all #FrenchSeams. One pair already split so size may need to be upped and seams probably need better reinforcement.

Hooray!! The cops have recovered my stolen #bicycle!! I should be reunited with it tomorrow or early Saturday. Even my "trunk" was still on the bike, apparently. Buy a distinctive bike if you can!

Wow! It sounds like a power station near my place exploded right near the start of my online English class tonight, knocking out power to my computer and WiFi. It took me ages to get set up again on my laptop and personal hotspot and then, I needed to get a one-time password to sign back into zoom but couldn't reach anyone at my school in Toronto. When I finally signed back in, the students were all still there and communicating with each other in English! Impressive. #motivation

I'm at a point where my life is mainly alternating between #sewing and #kdrama, with a weekly sewing class and back-to-back 3-day sewing retreats. In between all of that activity and my evening job, I'm just watching nonstop K-dramas to decompress. There are worse ways to live, TBH!

Day 28: something you want to see in more dramas
Since I'm only watching #kdrama and at least 2/3s of them involve some sort of a romance, is it too much to ask that they include good kissing?!?! It would be challenging to choose a worst kiss. So many of them involve the leads just putting their lips in the same place, often while staring up at the sky! I can probably count a handful of good kisses in all of the shows that I've watched.

Sad morning. After returning a day early from a smoky, wet paddling trip. I was awoken at 0645 hours by the cops to tell me that someone had broken into my vehicle. The culprits found the only valuable item that was in the car: my gorgeous #TernBike. I really hope that the fact that it's one-of-a-kind around town will work in my favour in this case. In the meantime, I won't be going out on #GroupRides for awhile. #BikeTooter, #YEG
