@tennis watching some of Charleston replays from earlier today and I have to ask if anyone can explain to me why women’s tennis shorts can’t have pockets? Watching Kalinina and Azarenka shove tennis balls under the shorts looks ridiculous. There is a technology that we know works to hold a spare tennis ball for people wearing shorts. #Tennis #wtatennis #Pockets

Because it's , every woman is allowed to propose one (1) new law. It must be a silly, low-stakes one which has little impact on society other than to solve one of your pet peeves.

Mine is: 'make it illegal to illustrate articles about female pleasure with photos of someone fingering a piece of fruit.'

WOMEN: what's yours?

Hmm, new pants (gift) fails the "does your wallet fall out at random every time you sit down" test. Dang stretchy material with shallow pockets. I hate to not use the gift, but....

ai6yr,

These pockets, plus the one I am wearing, have pockets SMALLER THAN MY WALLET.

News from the land of hobbies:
I have learned to hand-sew a neat 90° corner, and pretty nifty semi-decorational pocket. I attatched it to my old slacks and it is actually functional. (:

Next trial - hidden pocket.
These pants will be covered in different kinds of pockets as my skills progress. :P

Yes, women want pockets. But not just any "pockets." Women want BIG pockets... HUGE pockets... PRACTICAL pockets that can actually hold all kinds of things-- like wallets, cell phones, hairbrushes, Kotex pads, magic totems, and/or baby dragons.😏

Not the tiny ones we have now, the ones we can barely fit the ends of our fingers and a couple of coins into.

Terrific article on the "ingrained unfairness" of the lack of pockets in women's clothing (see link).

For me, that neckline is way too deep and wide and I wouldn't appreciate how snug it is all the way down to the hips. And NO ! Fun dress if you have the figure for it and you want to show it off.
I love the , which starts to flare at a more flattering point for many women. Excellent pockets. However, it also has the large gaping neckline that I'd really like to adjust before my next make.

Finished this project (early) this morning as a gift for a friend, the first time I've quilted a larger piece, really enjoyed the process, including making the bias to match the main fabric and even doing all the finishing by hand so the jacket is reversible. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to sew the pockets, which is against my principles*.

Pattern: Tamarack Jacket (Grainline Studio)
Fabrics: Merchant & Mills, Liberty fabrics

Photo of a quilted jacket, the other side, in a blue-toned fabric. The seams are finished with a hand-sewn bias, which gives the jacket structure.
Photo of the process of quilting the pieces that make up the jacket (here the sleeves). The cotton fabrics are sandwiched around a batting fabric, pinned and held together with provisional hand stitches.

I wore this dress earlier in the month when I didn't have my selfie stick. Photo was taken last year. I LOVE this dress, which my tailoring teacher in helped me with, a lot. My only regret is that it has no . Made with a fabulous sarong that I bought in .
I constantly get compliments. People love the elephants. Super comfy and easy to wash/dry/ and wear again when I'm travelling. I wish I kept more sarongs, which are unique in each country.

These shorts have taken me a year to complete with thrifted sheets. Although I’d already made a pair out of flannel from a PJ pattern, I was determined to make these with and . I sewed every seam incorrectly multiple times but I kept picking them out and then going back to them a month or so later. They’re finally complete and very comfortable. Access to the pockets isn't as deep as I’d like but they’re good otherwise.

No woman has ever been happy about weird mini-pockets or fake pockets.

I can't believe that I've made it to day 8 with no repeats but it's been a busy sewing year. This was the second dress I made at classes in with . It was a clone of the earlier dress and I especially like the back darts. And of course, ! Sadly, the batik is shredding in a big way with multiple small holes and bigger rips so it will probably only be worn at home until it's indecent for even that.
