Don't know if anyone can help, my daughter has been one month on feminizing hrt and her mood has absolutely crashed. ☹️ Has anyone else had this? I can't tell if it's in response to the hormones, which are powerful chemicals, or not. She's become hyper aware of her hair thinning and this is really affecting her badly. Does hrt help hair loss much?

I woke up early early, about 230, but it's Friday.

Need to keep today on the easy side and when I take a walk after work, it'll be only 30 to 40 minutes and at a slow pace.

Ginza is the best cat in the world.

Supposed to be mild today but clouds are going to roll in and then comes a stretch of gray days, but maybe next week the more summer like pattern starts to take hold and sunnier warmer days become more consistent and frequent.

@IzabelaKaramia that sounds quite disturbing... I hope the driver was ok. We had something similar, where a package was a couple of roads away and then was suddenly rerouted for the next day. I imagined a van breakdown. I hope nothing more serious occurred.

What do people read?

I was an avid reader of fiction when I was a child. Novels about challenging issues or strange fantasy worlds. In many ways reading was an escape to a safe place, but those books were also places where I could learn about how “people” worked. How they thought, felt & behaved. The diversity in those things.

I loved The Little Princess and The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett, because they were about children who were different & how they coped. I loved The Chronicles of Narnia because, although quite dated now, the girls had real adventures alongside their brothers. There was a series of books about witches, good & bad, which I loved but can’t remember the titles or author.

I loved Ivan Southall’s books, where tweens & teens faced dangers, often without the support of adults. (Marsden’s Tomorrow when the War Began is reminiscent of Southall.)

And as an adult, I still like youth & YA fiction, probably for the same reason, because I’m still learning how humans work. I also like adult fiction, but the naivety of youth fiction appeals.

And TBO, I read much more non-fiction than fiction nowadays. Obviously there’s the Autism & ADHD stuff that is currently dominating my reading, but also social commentaries of all sorts, by feminists, sociologists, etc.

It came to my mind that I often don't like being invited. Like recently a colleague wanted outof nothing to pay for my coffee. And instead of saying thanks I make it complicated.

@Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic I'm fairly sure I have PDA and I respond best to people telling me what the problem is and inviting me to look for the solution, or invitations to "see if I can" do (whatever it is), / "feel free to have a go and see what you come up with". or as a child to "lets see who can "x" first" etc..

@SnepperStepper @Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic I'm referring to pathological demand avoidance PDA which sounds pretty horrible to have, 30 years ago it was something called oppositional defiant disorder,(ODD), and now, very recently it's being renamed as extreme demand avoidance.....

@CatHat @SnepperStepper @Dr_Obvious @actuallyautistic not the same but my (probably PDA) child was identified by teachers as probably having ODD about 20 years ago, and although the profiles are different, they are both ways of labelling the fault being with the child rather than the adults who should be enabling the child.

I knew someone who went through school with odd being mentioned at yearly reviews, and yet they were clearly PDA in retrospect..

My husband doesn't expect or give presents. Which removes the demand to deal with whatever thing has been gifted. 🤗🤗

But last night I got one that was specifically targeted at Asian women.
