If tech bros funded by VC tech bros had started wikipedia ( @wikipedia ), the past few years would’ve been the same, but now they’d be pivoting to charge for Verified Editor Badges :deifirev: and introducing a scrollable feed of video shorts for Historical Figures Gone Goblin Mode
I’m very adamant about using “toot” instead of “post”. I’ll die on this hill, but hopefully not today because I have lots of errands to run, like buying stamps at the toot office.
Sometimes I hate Japanese so much. People say don’t be afraid of making mistakes, but then you make a little mistake and people are like what are these incomprehensible sounds coming from your facehole?? 😤
I was telling Ms FoC something about the apartment groundskeeper and I referred to the 管理さん instead of the 管理人さん and she was like wtf is a カンリサン
I was like, can you please try to accommodate a little. And she said that absolutely no one would understand 管理さん. Totally muri. 🙄
My suspicion is that most non-science people don’t realize that just coming up with a definition “this is a kilogram” and then being able to make a measurement in a lab where you can say with confidence “this is a kilogram” has involved an unimaginably huge amount of work and gazillions of dollars
There has been a lot of teeth-gnashing and angst over the fall of #twitter, but from some of the latest news, I think we will have to start thinking about a much bigger problem: the fall of #Google.
We’ve celebrated the amazing foods of Japan in the #JapaneseFoodTournament, and now we’ll look in the opposite direction and vote for the LEAST favorite Japanese food.
This is intended in the spirit of fun and adventure. If you can, I encourage everyone to try these dishes. Many are acquired tastes but you might acquire them! Or at least gain more perspective on Japanese food culture.
Am I the only one annoyed that some nutritional labels show “salt” and others show “sodium”? I’m a chemist so I’m fine, but surely this is confusing to normal people, right?
If you saw one package with “sodium 2000 mg” and another with “salt 2000 mg” what would you think?
