India ordering extra-judicial killings. They told the U.S. these were rogue operatives and told Trudeau he was wacko. As it turns out he was right on the money. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/nijjar-killing-arrests-made-1.7192807

Solar is now being installed faster than any technology in history | RenewEconomy https://reneweconomy.com.au/solar-is-now-being-installed-faster-than-any-technology-in-history/ “In 2023, PV and comprised about 80% of global generation capacity additions (and 99% in Australia). This is compelling market-based evidence that solar PV and wind are the best options for new capacity. New solar capacity is being installed faster than anything else in history“

‘HR is not your friend’: why frustrated workers are hiring reps of their own

@MJCarty HR reps are hired, fired and promoted by the same company you’re having problems with. Of course they aren’t your friends.

Loblaws made over 2 billion in profits last quarter, that's aprox. $50 for every Canadian.

They say they are reinvesting in their company, but they spent 1.7 billion on stock buybacks to drive up stock prices.

Profits weren't used for infrastructure and did not go to employees.

Meanwhile, prices increase and inflation is rising.

Bob Hepburn: Media fails Canadians by giving a free pass to Pierre Poilievre

@EricLawton I spoke with a working class Canadian today who thinks they will vote Conservative next time. This is someone who retired with a nice pension from a unionized job who doesn’t realize those things didn’t come from rightwing governments or that voting right wing makes him a class traitor. And yes the constant drip of rightwing media including social media has influenced them.

Imagine if the grocery barons had increased prices in order to provide clean air in their stores, or to provide better pay and benefits for their workers. Predictably that didn’t happen. The profits are going into the pockets of the owners. The Broadbent Institute published this study showing where the profits are going. https://www.broadbentinstitute.ca/grocery-financialization

"The RCMP has launched a criminal investigation into Premier ’s $8.28-billion Greenbelt land swap scandal.

In another stunning setback for Ford’s embattled Progressive Conservatives, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s “sensitive and international investigations” team is formally on the case." 🇨🇦https://www.thespec.com/thestar/politics/provincial/rcmp-launches-criminal-investigation-into-doug-ford-s-greenbelt-land-swap/article_bd7e6b80-55c8-5b2b-b5e1-c46fe8e0f83f.html

@GottaLaff The OPP punted the Greenbelt scandal to the RCMP in August2023. OPP had been reviewing it since fall 2022. With the RCMP finally opening a criminal investigation I’m unsure if that means justice will be served or if we will just get more foot dragging. It seems obvious there was wrongdoing otherwise why were ministers and staff stepping down.

After Canada got Universal Healthcare we experienced a 78% drop in deaths from heart disease and stroke between the 1950’s and now. When it doesn’t cost you to talk to a doctor about your health you are more likely to seek care when you need it. Privatizing healthcare will reverse the trend to better health. Stop the privatization of healthcare in Ontario by voting here https://www.publichospitalvote.ca/node/2 or at polling locations in your neighbourhood May 26 and 27.

@scott Turns out this will be the best part of your life. You will get pulled and stretched, lose sleep and worry. But you grow too and it’s the most rewarding and exciting time. When that little burrito leaves home you will wonder how it went by so fast and you will miss it.

A premier with 18% support of Ontario’s voters thinks he can take away the lake front from us, our children and their children. Unless we push back now it will happen. That’s public land he’s giving away. Your land. Your access to recreation, will only be available to those wealthy enough. You should be mad as hell. https://globalnews.ca/news/9626967/ontario-place-therme-spa-contract-ford-government/

Argh I've misread the pattern for the sleeves and so I ended up 2 stitches short on both the sleeves but one extra stitch somehow on the front, leaving me 1 stitch short overall (since Iwas supposed to reduce 2 for the pattern).

Do I rip out the sleeves to fix it or add a stitch and keep going?
