Bugger. I was bidding on a Spectrum 128 toast rack.

It's one of two 8-bit Sinclair machines I don't have, the other is a ZX80.

Went for £90 over my max bid.

@peter keep looking. I managed to get a bargain ZX80 through a whole lotta patient waiting and luck. Eventually the original owners will age out.

What are the odds this xrOS/Reality Pro stuff allows non App Store software installation? To me seems hard to justify a lockdown on a $3k "Pro" product.

@paul I’d guess that if any OS has a locked down mode it will definitely be this one. Apple would be working hard to make sure only the apps they want people to see would be on the fledgling platform. Gotta control the story for something this new.

For various reasons it’s taken me a long time to be able to connect up this MTX512 and see it running. It belonged to my dad, and I’ve not seen this lilac display since he last used it. He liked the built-in database tool “Noddy” and used it to store his record collection details.

Finally found a TV with a tuner and proved that this ZX80 actually works. It’s got the 8K ROM but no keyboard overlay, but it’s in perfect condition. What an iconic computer.

ZX80 of course.

I feel like Final Cut Pro coming to the iPad is telegraphing how great it's going to be on the headset.. you don't need a giant iPad screen... you don't need a hand held screen at all, just a head held screen.

Is it better to use a different password on every service (and thus increase the odds of someone cracking at least one of them), or to use a single strong password everywhere (and so letting bad actor into your accounts if they crack that one)?
