We are already nuclear powered from our son. More and more countries, getting closer to 100% from solar and wind.

@MorpheusB when the proposed solutions are always decades away, this justifying ‘transition fuels’, it stinks like extending fossil fuels rather than solving the problem. We have technologies now that can help, but no, let’s delay the solution.

@bakuninboys email is one that I’ve always steered clear of. The risks are high, especially things like losing control of your domain name. Whoever gets your domain gets all your email. No thanks. Then add spam, viruses, managing blocklists. Then the issues of uptime, lost email, etc. All too hard for me!

@Bern @geordie Ventoy makes the usb-booting process pretty easy! Just drop isos onto the partition on the drive, and it'll be instantly bootable. Can drop in as many isos as your usb drive will fit, then choose from them up boot time.

In the most glorious "fuck you" I have seen in a while, you know the book that Cumberland City Council banned because they're homophobic bigots - Holly Duhig's "A focus on Same Sex Parents"? Well, the publisher, BookLife Publishing, have made a PDF version of the book available for free.

Sure be a shame if it was shared far and wide now, wouldn't it?

Huh, looks like @nextcloud Talk can be (or is working on being) federated between Nextcloud instances. That'd be pretty cool. Instant, video, and audio messaging without relying on someone else's platform would be pretty cool. Its hard choosing a platform that works on desktop, Android, and Apple, and is not trying to monetise my children.

Trying to update firmware on an HP Spectre X360 laptop from linux, but I can't extract a .bin file from the downloadable .exe file. Has something changed in this space? The .exe file extracts only another .exe file!

Whyyyyyyy is it so hard? Using sops-nix to encode passwords in a flake. It all seemed so easy. But /etc/fshadow in the built image has no password against the user, can't log in. No debug info, nothing to suggest where to go next!
