Ok bro, you’ve informed me you love Christ in your bio, but do you love queer people, immigrants, and people failed by capitalism too?

How do you show your stated love for Christ other than mentioning it in your bio?

The people who have harmed me the most in life also loved Christ, so please understand why I need some more information.

Sverige joined Österreich, France, and Italia in ruling use of Google Analytics violates GDPR.

I am proud of Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) for the ruling and being the first regulatory agency to issue fines and conclusively rule that Google’s “supplementary measures” for EU businesses are inadequate.

Thank you, @noybeu, for the legal activism strengthening GDPR as an effective consumer protection.

Let’s assume the decline in AM/FM/TV broadcast reaches an inevitable 0 audience members.

What could the AM, FM, and TV spectrums be better used for?

Would it be reasonable to use it for Internet access?

There’s a joke about The NY Times reporting on “trends” long after they are established culturally. Gay men sending birthday nudes has been A Thing for 5–10 years.

Also, no self-respecting gay man would use the depicted phone to take a selfie.

Shout out to all my fellow “class of extremely online gay men”!

3 years ago, I invested in The Smart Tire Company.

Today, I got to pre-order Metl, the world’s first high performance, lightweight, airless, never flat, and sustainable bicycle tire made from shape memory alloys.

NASA developed special tires for its Mars Rover Program. The Smart Tire Company brought that innovation to the bike lane.

I’ve gotten ads on Instagram for boxer briefs that I would consider buying, but they have HUGE branding on the waistband. I don’t want to advertise Ballsack or Manscaped whenever I stretch.

My family is visiting Stockholm in a few weeks. I was planning to use Stockholm eBikes for them since I don't have spare bikes.

Then I learned Stockholms stad terminated the contract in May. https://osqledaren.se/ol-graever/wait-where-did-stockholm-ebikes-go-2023-05-23

Then I learned RideMovi is its replacement vendor, but it doesn't have nearly as many bikes, as good a day pass plan, or as good service area. 🙁 https://cykla.stockholm/hyrcyklar/

Any other e-bike rental recommendations in Stockholm?

🤯 Warp just showed me the future of devops runbooks. It’s like Postman for CLIs.

Warp (a terminal app) introduced collaborative documents in the terminal (“notebooks”) that can run commands in the terminal. No more hunting for the wiki page or README file.

When combined with its “workflows” (code snippets for commands with easier to use parameter passing), this is the documentation I want for everything I have to do on a command-line.

Today, Skatteverket informed me my legal name now matches what I have called myself for most of my adult life.

My legal name change involved choices by many people who were not me, a lawsuit, and a soul search.

I fought the law and I won.

Druk Yul (Bhutan) is pioneering a self-sovereign digital identity system. For now, it requires a physical national id to create, but then the individual controls their credential.

In Sverige, we use BankID and Freja eID, which are similar, but controlled by a third-party. Self-sovereignty should be the next step.

Identity is one of the few valid use cases for a blockchain, but Polygon layer-2 for a national id is a bad choice IMHO.

I always bought my iPhone outright because I hate the feeling of debt.

However, my mobile carrier (Tre) offered a ~25% discount using monthly payments for a 2 year contract of my current service plan. I like saving money and am happy with the service, so I’m getting an iPhone 15 Pro.

I have averaged 3 years between phone upgrades for environmental reasons. My niece will be getting my iPhone 12 Pro, which works great and has no trade-in value because of a few dead pixels.

I do NOT recommend Samsung washing machines and dryers. The 10 year warranty only covers the motor. Everything else is 2 years. The EU should mandate longer for supposed "durable goods".

At 3 years, the heat pump on my dryer died and cost half the purchase price to repair.

At 4 years, the washing machine door latching mechanism stopped sensing the door was indeed closed and cost half the purchase price to repair.

Also, the minute long “done” jingle is fucking annoying.

Apple managed to weasel out of iMessage being considered a gatekeeper platform. The DMA website has not yet been updated, but I cannot wait to read how.

This is a failure in effective regulation and I hope @EU_Commission fixes whatever loophole Apple exploited.

I missed in November that Apple announced it was adding support for RCS (Rich Communication Services) next year.

https://9to5mac.com/2023/11/16/apple-rcs-coming-to-iphone/

RCS is the successor to SMS and MMS that brings cross-platform read receipts, typing indicators, high-quality images and videos, and possible end-to-end encryption.

This likely is a concession to the EU, which is trying to force iMessage interoperability, but Apple is fighting on a technicality.

Getting 42 US states to agree on anything these days is quite difficult, so a consensus to file a lawsuit accusing Meta of having misled the public about the substantial dangers of its products and knowingly contributed to a youth mental health crisis through the addictive nature of their social media platforms is quite something.
