One of the most valuable lessons from my 17-year journey as a has been:

When I clearly lay out what I value, decision-making is easier.

Mind you, the hardest decisions remain: important choices between things that are both good, or both bad.

But even for those, I'll tell you this: since I started making aligned choices, I've stopped second-guessing myself. (It's astonishing, now that I think about it!)

@GottaLaff I used to do research on fed judges and on their appt by presidents… this is huge. Historically, Dems haven’t put the emphasis on judicial selection that Repubs have. This is meaningful and lasting change.

@GottaLaff Yes. But wondering if the Court can take any action — via the same brief — before an en banc review (possibly) occurs, which would likely be a greater delay than the Circuit panel. Or is that not a thing? Anyway, I guess we’ll see.

@GottaLaff So thoughtful. SCOTUS is in a bind of their own making. Despite its inherent political nature (I’m a political scientist & we know this is empirically true), conservatives have had every opportunity to manage their preferences in legit ways. Thomas/lack of ethics makes it all exponentially worse. They’ve lost all credibility … and now will do what they need to to protect their own safety (not their responsibility) instead of the country’s well being (100% their job).

I have a story about a defendant not taking the stand in a criminal case.

If you get annoyed by what criminal defense lawyers do, stop reading now 😂 (and go read the 6th Amendment)

So anyway, one of my law school professors was considered among the top criminal defense lawyers in San Francisco.

OJ Simpson's legal team was preparing his defense -- and OJ was insisting on taking the stand.

OJ truly believed that if he could just talk to the jury, they wouldn't convict him.

    Sitting here holding a heating pad of hot buckwheat on my face for a sinus infection.

    (Also using lots of home remedies: tea, echinacea, acetaminophen, eucalyptus (thanks @CorinnaBaldauf). Last time I took antibiotics, it took a decade to get my digestion sorted to end food intolerances. Last resort, for sure.)

    @deborahh @dgar I’ve had some phenomenal docs (I’m BRCA2+) but a few have behaved as if the stats speak for themselves without an interpretation or personal agency about risk.
