@FlockOfCats I feel bad for all the employees over there who have nothing to do with the site going down who were just told to come back into the office and that if they took vacation they might as well not come back into the office next year.*

*I also made this up, but I had a boss like this who changed the locks on the building when I took a half day because I wasn’t feeling well.

I have a company-issued iPad and Apple Pencil for the rare occasion that hand editing is needed.

I have some hand editing coming up, so I’m charging the Pencil now. My wife saw it sticking out of my phone and couldn’t believe it. “Are you serious? That’s a joke, right?”

@FlockOfCats @jezebelkat Roll20 is great because the content is all built in, but I love Foundry because you actually control it and can add plugins and stuff. I ended up buying content on Roll20, exporting it to Foundry, and running everything there.

@Tsutsuku nine-to-five is only eight hours if you get a paid lunch, so I guess between adding an hour at the beginning or end of the day, most people would pick the beginning.

@FlockOfCats I usually get feedback that I punctuate like I speak. Apparently it’s an ADHD thing, an extra comma provides more time to process.

What is a good dongle for connecting HDMI, Ethernet, power cable, USB to an M1 MacBook Pro?

The one I have was always flakey and now borderline unusable 😞

@FlockOfCats @kurau I really like the one I got from VAVA, it was an 8-in-1 without Ethernet but they do have models with Ethernet. I gave it to my son for his new MacBook, and since switched to using the Core Drive Pro from Skull and Co. that is also compatible with my Steam Deck and Switch. For network I use a separate USB-C to Ethernet adapter from Belkin, because I don’t want to lose internet if I unplug keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

Do people with situs inversus say the Pledge of Allegiance with their left hand over the heart on the right side? 🇺🇸 🤔

@FlockOfCats flag code says right hand over heart, but doesn’t specify where your heart is. I guess you’d have to awkwardly put your right hand on the right side of your chest with your elbow sticking out to the side.

Men with hats are supposed to remove them and hold them with their right hand such that the hand is over the heart and the hat is over your left shoulder, so this could complicate things unless you’ve got a big enough hat.

I'm watching The Blacklist, and every time they roll up to a potential crime scene where someone may need paramedics.. they seemingly never have paramedics accompanying them on stand-by, despite knowing imminent danger to life, so they're always forced to scream "call an ambulance" — is that honestly how law enforcement works, or is it just tv shoe drama?

@thisismissem depending on the nature of the emergency, it’s often whoever is closest, so where I’m at that’s usually the fire department. If you call emergency services, we’re told you should wait for them outside if you think you might not be able to respond when they arrive, such as for a heart attack or stroke, since paramedics are not allowed to enter a house until police have swept it. I was told this differs by city.

@FlockOfCats I saw that email and real name leaked, but didn’t think they compromised passwords, did I miss something? Looked like they used an API that let you put in an email address and it would spit out a real name and user name if the email existed, so it was a problem because if they only had your email now they know your name, but nothing more.

@FlockOfCats yeah, I think the third time my account got leaked because a major bank got hacked I went all in on not reusing passwords. Or was it a major retailer? Or a credit tracking company who collected all of my financial information and sold it without asking anyone if that’s okay (and then made a whole bunch of money selling additional protection because everyone was now at risk of identity theft)?

Does anyone know a good way to merge google photos and iCloud Photos?

I’m pretty sure all the iCloud Photos are synched into google, but google has some stuff not in iCloud. I can’s just pic everything in google to download because it will make duplicates in iCloud.

(The goal is to get all the photos in one spot and dump google)

@FlockOfCats would love to see other options, but what I have had to do is download everything then use a program like anti-twin to do a comparison between the two folders and delete all duplicates.

@FlockOfCats I remember when this happened that they actually created a special page on their site just to remove this album. Looks like it broke when they switched to two-factor authentication, so now they say this:

Customers are no longer able to remove the album on their own. You will need to reach out to Apple Support directly to have the album removed.

@b0rk for me, just the first bit about what helps people today would be enough. The way my brain works, if I’m told not to do something, I always have to try to figure out why, so a simple reason that makes sense is enough. If a reason isn’t provided, I might subconsciously make one up, and it might not be a good reason or anything close to the actual reason. I was the kid who would never accept “because I said so” as good enough. 😅
