"Blockchain Rasputin over here is mad that moderation exists." — @jwz

https://mastodon.social/@jwz/112419816161276351

"These guys only care about their assumed right to force people who aren't interested to listen. "Free speech" is when they can say awful stuff and you can't answer back. When Dorsey calls Twitter -- Twitter! -- "freedom technology," that's the freedom he means. They can't live without unwilling ears to bash."

thor, (edited ) to ADHD
@thor@berserker.town avatar

The Norway group on FB strikes me as people who are always looking for stuff. Drugs, treatment, easy ways out. They're not looking for key solutions, such as collaboration. I'm also not seeing much interest in a weekly ADHD conference call. Some of the paradox is that you're short-sighted, and thus unable to work with people on the long term.

RL_Dane,
@RL_Dane@fosstodon.org avatar

@thor

That sucks. That's a caricature of every bad and slanderous depiction of folk. Very unfortunate. :(

RL_Dane,
@RL_Dane@fosstodon.org avatar

@thor

Totally agreed. What I loved about the youtube ADHD "community" was the realistic depictions of what ADHD is actually like, and techniques for overcoming it, not mere recommendations for drugs.

It's a bummer that the community you found isn't more healthy.

I sincerely hope you guys are covering the need for attribution, the respect of licenses of data that's trained on, and the environmental impact of "A.I." in this workshop, because without ethics, there is no "Open Source."

If you liked DXing, you should try listening to distant WSPR beacons with JTDX or JS8Call and a cheap RTL-SDR. :D

It's amazing how distant you can pick up with a cheap SDR, some "rabbit ear" indoor antennas, and the WSPR beacons.

I mean, the fact that people are eager to incinerate the earth to dig up some magic bit coins or to massively parallel poop-process a stupid linguistic statistical neural net because you think you'll make billions, no matter the collateral damage is all I need to know that silicon valley is full of sociopaths and should probably be buried, or something.

From where I sit, this looks like Google and HP working together to convince us that their version of Zoom is something new and unique: Google partners with HP to commercialize Project Starline for realistic virtual meetings https://betanews.com/2024/05/13/google-hp-commercialize-project-starline/

You'd think GOOG'd finally realize that the "throw spaghetti against the wall" method of product design isn't working too well for them.

Like, if anyone doubts this, I have some further explanation and examples I can send you on Google Talk. I mean Allo. I mean Hangouts. I mean Google Wave. I mean Google Jamboard. I mean Google Notes. Wait...

RL_Dane,
@RL_Dane@fosstodon.org avatar

@BrideOfLinux

Oh, of course, the biggest flop of all. G+

Also, iGoogle, and there was something else very similar to Google Wave that had just as much fanfare and died just as quietly. I can't remember what it was called, but the name was very similar, and it was either a better gmail than gmail, or the predecessor of gdrive's live interactive features.

Yes, Picasa was the pre-google-photos google photos. I loved it back whe.

I uuencoded it (after compressing it) to save space (vertical space, especially) without actually tossing the function, in case I want to use it later.

Being silly, mostly. ;)

Yeah, I remember thinking it was pretty wizard in 1992.

Much later, I found out it's basically just base64. XD

You're not supposed to mount the RPI directly on the heated build plate. 😆

But in all seriousness, 65ⁿ C isn't half bad for a CPU/SOC.
