I need to get a handle on this, what password manager do you recommend?

My requirements are:

  • Free
  • As private as possible
  • Sync between devices
  • Maybe a website one (if local app, needs iOS, Windows and Linux, or an extension).

Any recommendations welcome.

KeepassXC + syncthing/nextcloud if your only mobile OS is android. There is a keepass client for iOS, but I don't know if it's trustworthy.

If having an available-anywhere web interface is important to you (or if not having it's own sync system is a deal-breaker) I got a family member on BitWarden, and they're pretty happy with it.

I do love these new SSDs that I got over the weekend. They're soooo quiet, nice and fast, in particular with no latency when they spin up. That's all my toy budget for the month gone, but I think I'll buy the same again next month to replace the volume that stores my backups. That's still got oodles of space left, but the quiet is nice, and while spin-up time doesn't matter for my backups, having basically zero seek time will really help a lot.

That looks like a blacklist to me, which is still a good thing.

Whitelists are very challenging to maintain, unless you find a good one online, which is always an option, I guess.

I have a 12 inch iBook G4 if anyone within the continental US wants it. Not even going to ask shipping, I just want to get rid of it.

It's a lower specced one. It's physically damaged (looks to have been dropped) but I know the logic board still works.

I hate to, but 3 days til I throw it out.

Wouldn't the best solution to do the link pretty-ification on the originating instance only, and make the pretty link a part of the actual post? Like, for minimal re-tooling, just create it as an image, maybe with an <a href=...> around it?

Hey folks,

In my little exploration, I'm re-creating the A500 I would've gotten in Christmas 1989 rather than the Macintosh SE I actually got.

My understanding is that the original A500 is capable of displaying 640x400 (NTSC -- I'm in the US) with 4 bitplanes...

So why does workbench display 640x200? (At least, that's what it looks like to me based on the non-square pixels I'm seeing in font rendering)

Update: to avoid interlacing. I forgot abt that 😅
