I think it would be really funny if the porn actress talked liked Foghorn Leghorn.

@RickiTarr @4d3fect Such a shame about Alan Rickman

They were all set to make a TV series based on the movie until he told them about his cancer diagnosis

And it just wouldn't have been the same without him

If the gods exist, it's mighty presumptuous to think they have our best interests at heart, or even think about us at all.

With Christianity (since that's what I grew up with), I start with Satan (originally an "angel", created by god) as the example. And, since Christianity sets the font of evil at Satan's feet .

TBH, the convos tend to be short-lived either because the person gets mad at the logic or they find my nerdiness about it annoying. 🤣

One of my first memories is getting an internal organ removed. I had no idea what the fuck an "adenoid" was, but apparently getting them removed is a very painful and very invasive surgery.

Even as a toddler I couldn't understand why an omnipotent and omnibenevolent god couldn't just create me without adenoids and save me the pain of this surgery.

Nice! Unsurprisingly, you were a smart and thoughtful kid.

It reminds me of the time that my (now adult) nine year old asked why god killed all of the babies in the flood .... (proud mommy moment for me).

flargh,
@flargh@mastodon.social avatar

@RickiTarr There's HP Lovecraft's Cosmicism: the idea that there is no god, the universe is unknowable and vast, and humanity is irrelevant. Sure, nihilistic AF, but oddly comforting in a way. Takes the pressure off us, anyway.

Then there's Gnosticism: the material universe wasn't God's idea at all, but the creation of a demiurge, and either a malevolent creation designed explicitly to trap elements of the divine, or maybe just a bumblefucked mistake.

Beowulf is pretty wild, and I haven't even gotten to the fight with Grendel yet. Beowulf has just shown up and is like Hey this Grendel character? I'm gonna waste his ass for you. And then Unferth is like Pshaw! You can't even swim good, Bro! Breca totally crushed you in that swimming contest. And Beowulf is like Really? You want to go there? Sorry I was too busy slaying NINE sea monsters to worry about winning some stupid little race, and by the way I was swimming in full armor and carrying a sword, but you're welcome for the steep decline in sea monster attacks lately. Do you even slay, Bro? Oh wait l, what am I saying, if you were even halfway decent at slaying then I wouldn't have to come here with all my Geat bros to save your sorry ass! And Unferth just sits there in silence because what are you gonna say after having been so thoroughly owned?

theropologist,
@theropologist@beige.party avatar

Post credit scene: Beowulf approaches Unferth and hands him the sword.

Hey man, I had one of my Geats fetch this from the bottom of that lake. It's not a bad sword, it's got a decent cutting edge and all, it was just completely useless to me in this particular situation. But don't worry, I don't blame you for that. I mean, how could you have known, never having slayed any fell monsters before? Hey, I'm a magnanimous guy!

And then he flashes those pearly whites. He truly is a considerate man.

Seriously heard someone saying they don't listen to many black artists, because they aren't really into rap. Bitch please, feel free to share songs from Black artists from any genre. Here is one of my favorites, if you like this song please check out her other work:

@RickiTarr I'm old and grew up with Motown. In the 70s, I absolutely loved The Commodores. I could be here all day covering their discography, but this is one of my favorites. Frankie Valli & The Commodores (with Lionel Richie), singing Grease with a disco vibe:
