I think there's a reason Dylan only did one actual confessional album "Blood On The Tracks", his version of all the singer songwriter early 70s confessional music. I mean if you refer to Joyce's aesthetic theory as I certainly do all the time TS is really stuck on the lyrical.

1977 was a great year for punk rock releases and the year that opened a new (music) world to me

Do you have a favorite among these mega releases?

SpaceAce,

@historyofpunkrock the most punk record of 1977!

That crunchy moment when you break through the Ubuntu frosting & the raw Debian /usr/bin/perl confection is visible.

SpaceAce,
@SpaceAce@esoteric.party avatar

@Binder i enjoy your geekery but like haha 2nd hand , from a distance - I used to enjoy all that but now I just like the computer working which - as you know - Linux does very well. Often I can't even remember if I'm running like Ubuntu or Kubuntu or Mint, I just grab something randomly when I get a new computer. That's the ideal OS to me - you don't even know what it is!

@Binder I hesitate to say it's the best I miss my old Sun with SunOS but it's pretty good old Linux

looking at the lyrics, this is probably my favorite line on the whole album:

What kind of high-school experience did you have? Were you in a clique? Were you popular, unpopular, the coolest kid in your Homeschool? Did you have a sweet jean jacket with patches, or maybe a leather vest? Were you an evil villain or a Mary Sue?

SpaceAce,
@SpaceAce@esoteric.party avatar

@RickiTarr it was sexual

When did “the 80’s” start? 🤔

I like this answer from Reddit 👇

"I see five distinct parts:

80 - 81: Fast Times at Ridgemont High era, rock was popular, New Wave just showing up. J Geils Band, Asia, Billy Squier.

82 - 83: New Romantics era, New Wave becomes more widely accepted. Culture Club, Spandau Ballet, Missing Persons.

84 - 85: Monsters of Pop era. Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cindy Lauper.

86 - 87: Stock Aitken Waterman era, where pop became a bit overproduced. Bananarama, Pet Shop Boys, Cutting Crew.

88 - 89: Hair Band era, where pop was taken over by teased hair and electric guitars. Poison, Def Leppard, Guns N Roses.

(Of course, the R&B charts had their own eras, and had very successful crossovers in every era, from Lionel Richie to Janet Jackson.)"

@SpaceAce@esoteric.party avatar

@Defiance it's funny how much I love pop culture and stuff, my answer wouldn't be music or movies. I say the 80s started with Reagan getting elected. Just like unfortunately the 2000s really started with Bush and all the causes and effects of that (for instance, Iran hostage crisis, Supreme Court ruling for Bush)

    What is a little white lie you were told as a child, that you believed for too long?

    I was way too old when I figured out a human couldn't actually get sucked down a drain or flushed down a toliet. I used to cling to my little brothers, and pull them out of the bath any time my Mum would pull to plug.

    Hello! I want to do a Spooky Picture Prompt! So, find a picture in your camera roll that would represent the phrase:

    Last Picture on the Camera Roll

    This should be spooky, but completely up to your own interpretation. Here's one from me, with weird eclipse light.

    Today is the 50th anniversary of the day baseball player Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's all-time home run record. Here's a @Flipboard Storyboard to honor the occasion. In the words of announcer Vin Scully: "What a marvelous moment for baseball. What a marvelous moment for Atlanta and the state of Georgia. What a marvelous moment for the country and the world. A Black man is getting a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a record of an all-time baseball idol.”

    Still ~6 hours left of , which means there's time to remind you that every $ you spend on Spotify/Deezer/Apple Music/etc streaming subscriptions goes to make some rich prick richer (either an executive at those companies or a musician like Taylor Swift who doesn't need more money), while every $ you spend at Bandcamp goes almost entirely to the artist. If you love music, you should be spending at least as much on direct-to-artist payments as you are on streaming every month.

    The forecast said no rain for the next hour, so we took JJ for a walk.

    Yup. You guesed it. It started raining.

    After we got back he asked for a towel by rubbing against whatever he could find. He was happy to see the towel.
