Zelda puppy getting her new shoes put on for a walk. She's been at the vet twice since we moved here for abrasions and cuts on her feet from walks in the desert.

She likes them and ran around the house like a 4 year old who is convinced they are super fast now with new shoes. Lol.

We had to do something in self defense or the vet bills were gonna add up.

Was awoken with a start around 4:30 this morning because I smelled burning rubber or plastic.

It was only after running around the house in my underwear clutching my yoga pants did I realize there was a thunderstorm happening at that moment, and the petrichor in this part of the desert smells like creosote bush.

Yes, there is a plant here that covers the desert floor that smells like friggin petroleum. Lmao.

It's fine. I went back to sleep after. Hahaha

I came across someone saying they were proud of all the protesting they did when they were younger and that’s fine.

Anyway, one of the things they listed was being proud of stopping America from going into nuclear power and let me just share that this attitude and movement set us back pretty far on clean power and it’s good to look into why. 1/2

I put down my more involved needlework projects while I'm doing heavy work on the house in favor of quick and dirty cotton string grocery bags. Fed up with the ones I can buy, it's much easier for me just to make them. They're mindless, in the round, net bags that I can just unwind with while waiting for sleep. I'm also hoping that if I actually make them, I won't forget them at home. ;)

When we moved into this place in Socorro, several folks commented about putting down roots.

That's bugged me ever since. Why? Because I HAD ROOTS ALREADY in my home state. In Texas. A place I loved.

But everyone there lost their goddamned minds, and we had to leave. I had friends, a community, a neighborhood, family, everything.

And it was STOLEN.

I'm not interested in putting that much work into a place ever again. Fool me once, and all that.

So no, I won't be putting roots down here. Or anywhere. I'll die where I die. I no longer care.

Made dinner reservations in Santa Fe for the boy's upcoming 19th birthday. He requested we go up specifically as we have spent the last 10 or so years doing just this for special occasions. Santa Fe is still magical for us. :)

He also requested we visit the violin shop while there. I think he wants a viola as even full size violins are now too small for him. He is a beanpole. Long and lanky. But he can tear up a string instrument. He's pretty good. :)

The worst part in this whole Stormy Daniels saga for me is the part where she overcame enormous challenges in her home life and earned a full ride scholarship to Texas A&M because she wanted to be a veterinarian, but couldn't go because the associated expenses were too much.

This is a TRAGEDY.

This also holds true for every kid who has the stuff to make it to university, but cannot because of shit like money.

How many doctors and poets and other genius have we missed by concentrating on sending the most mediocre fuckers on the planet to school, instead of people like her?

Hundreds of thousands. Millions, probably.
