I can't be the only one thinking that the whole MTG move against Johnson and the following Trump-invite-of-Johnson to tout Tump's election lies (right before 1 of his trials starts) was a set-up from the get-go.

MTG is Trump's mini-me. No way she would have threatened Johnson's seat w/out Trump's approval.

Step 1: cause the speaker's job to be threatened

Step 2: swoop in to save him if he agrees to your terms

So, what does Johnson (already a Trumpian) have to give Trump in return?

The death penalty for a non-violent crime? Really?

This is bonkers.

(To be clear: I'm against the death penalty in all cases.)

Can't believe this needs to be said ... but ...

  1. Post your source for factual claims (news related items, esp.)

  2. If Twitter is your ONLY source, your claim is almost certainly false

  3. If someone else posts an important piece of news w/out a source ... go look for one. If you can't find it, ask them for it. If they can't provide it ... DON'T SHARE IT

  4. Nobody is immune from disinfo/misinfo.

(Truly amazing to me how many people still get sucked into obvious disinfo-spreading errors)

Punishing people for doing what's right is a shitty way to run society.

Case-in-point: Liz Cheney lost her job for standing against Trump & she's still losing opportunities.

"A famed news photographer who worked for former [President Ford]...has resigned from the late president's foundation saying its executive committee rejected ... Liz Cheney for an award three times because members fear retribution from former President Donald Trump if he is reelected this year."

Polls are worthless.

Evidently, this fact has been so often repeated by guests on news shows, that I just heard a news-show host say "ignoring any questions about polls" ... so they could DISCUSS THE POLL RESULTS ANYWAY.

My god. Talk about missing the point. Yikes.

(For those wondering ... it was MSNBC)

So "the Rock" (Dwayne Johnson) is griping about "woke culture" and refuses to re-up his support of Biden ... JUST AS he's returning to the Trumpian world of WWE.

Ahhhh. Well. Glad to see where he draws the line on basic principles. Won't be watching his movies again.

Godwin is a fantastic guy. I'll never forget after Charlottesville, when he came out and said to stop using "Godwin's Law" in that situation ... that they were in fact comparable to Nazis.

The quotation:
"By all means, compare these shitheads to Nazis. Again and again. I'm with you."

Huh.

Seems some in the media are now starting to take the networked State manipulation efforts via fake accounts a little (teeny tiny bit) seriously.

Better really really late than never, I suppose.

I'm not religious but I kinda wish I believed in Christianity. If I did, I'd be certain that Trump will burn in hell.

E.g.:

Mark 10:25 (Wealth)
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Matthew 5:27 (Adultery)
"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

ALL of the "7 deadly sins"

Etc.

Pete Buttigieg (I still think of him as "Mayor Pete") ... has one hell of an awful job. Yikes.

Plane crashes. Train crashes (and chemical spills). And bridge collapses.

I can't imagine how hard dealing with all of that is ... technically, administratively, politically, and ... especially, emotionally.

Looking for suggestions ... for the least bad MSM outlet.

News is my "background noise" while I work, workout, etc. And, well, MSNBC hiring the Trump-loving, election-overthrowing-assistant is too much for me. (I'm gonna miss Rachel Maddow ... ugh). So, I'm losing my go-to background noise.

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

The elders in my family always say someone/something is "something else." "Something else" can mean anything you want it to. It could mean something derogatory about someone or thing - something to make you roll your eyes, or it could mean something really positive and amazing. It's all about intonation. There's this middle of the road type of intonation that makes the words seemingly mean nothing, so you can say something mean to someone's face, but can't be accused of saying anything wrong.🤣

VirginiaMurr,
@VirginiaMurr@mastodon.social avatar

@StillIRise1963

Haha ... another trip down memory lane.

I think a newer iteration of that phrase is .. "that's interesting." It could either be a slam or a compliment. Totally depends on the tone.

Welp, came across my 1st fake military account on here ...

I don't miss seeing those. They were a constant problem on Twitter. New military fakes were created daily there -- in the thousands.

These fakes have a tendency to start as scam accounts and move on to political propaganda. So, keep your eyes open.

(For those wondering ... yes, I reported it. And, thus far, the admins have been fantastic about suspending clear fakes. 100% better than Twitter ever was.)
