So glad the news keeps replaying ... over and over and over ... the crap Trump's sycophant surrogates were saying for him at the courthouse. (Read: extreme sarcasm)

Geezus.

I honestly can't watch her. Her constant, long, inexplicable pauses that cause everyone to think she's done talking (though she isn't) along with the lipsmacking ... is nails down a chalkboard for me.

And that's before we get to her personal "insights."

This sucks, generally--for everyone with children. But, I gotta say ... as a single mom, it's extra sucky.

The 11 states are .... (drum roll):
Indiana
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Nebraska
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Vermont
Wisconsin

It's a really sad statement about society that the refrain from today's Trump trial is how BORING the really important, yet non-titillating information is.

We've become a "reality-TV" nation in need of constant salaciousness.

It's gross ... and not a great foundation for the future of society.

VirginiaMurr,
@VirginiaMurr@mastodon.social avatar

@StillIRise1963

I agree. Also, I think there's a distinction between intelligent--in an intellectual sense--versus intelligent in other ways. Trump is uncannily good at being a horrible, self-serving human. It's been the study of his life and he excels at it.

I think Trump exemplifies that it's possible to be both dumb (intellectually) and smart (at being horrible/self-serving).

And, he's dangerous for both reasons.

The tornadic weather tonight across so many states reminds me of the year my family and I went to bed -- knowing there were some storms that were going to pass through, but none were expected to be severe.

Woke up to shit slamming into the house. It was a "straight-line" storm with 75+ mile per hour winds. (We made it to the basement and ended up being fine--thankfully.)

So, yeah ... have your weather alerts ready to go.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Ben Collins co-bought the Onion.

  • and he did it because he was concerned that some wealthy prick (like Elon) would buy it just to kill it.

Side-note: I quit following him because he's so attached to Twitter. But, I'm still glad he made this move with the Onion.

I knew a whole lot of people who purchased the National Enquirer ... KNOWING that the articles were bunk. They got a kick out of the drama and entertainment.

Welp. This is what they helped to fund.

Bonkers how many of the (male) Supreme Court justices said things like:

  • I'm not talking about this case
  • I don't care about this case
  • Not this case, but future cases

It really felt like the case didn't matter--at all. That's not how this is supposed to work.

Reason 214,123,523 why local elections matter. Even in a DEM-run state.

Always Vote.

>>Stephenson County IL joined Ogle County and Winnebago County in designating itself as aa NON-SANCTUARY county.

"The resolution was approved on a 10 to 6 vote after arguments were made ranging from anti-immigrant rhetoric to pleas to understand the role immigrants play in the local economy."

Out of 100+ counties:
Winnebago is the 7th largest
Ogle is the 28th
Stephenson is the 33rd

It insane to me how often women are not given pain management for gynecological procedures, because many many years ago a male doctor who's never had a vagina, cervix, or uterus decided that there weren't enough nerve endings up there to hurt significantly. I think it's time to put this fallacy to bed. It most definitely does hurt, and people who have literally no experience with female equipment don't get to decide this for me. Trust me docs, you don't want to taste your own medicine on this.

VirginiaMurr,
@VirginiaMurr@mastodon.social avatar

@stephanie @RickiTarr

Yeah ... my experience with the IUD (due to scar tissue from endometriosis and a former procedure) was easily as painful as the transition phase of labor. For three days after the procedure. Then the edge came down and I just had "regular pain" for about 4 more days.

I'm still pissed ... about a decade later.

Edit: I should note that my gyno was female. Grrrr.

More people responding to Trump's latest campaign stop, er, gaggle on court steps.

Here's Brad Moss's take:

: It’s a case as to book-keeping, which is a very minor thing in terms of the law in terms… This is a case where you pay a lawyer, it's a lawyer and they call it a legal expense. That's the exact term they use. We never even deducted it as a tax deduction

VirginiaMurr,
@VirginiaMurr@mastodon.social avatar

@GottaLaff

I'm not normally a betting person, but I'd bet that he's trying to taint public opinion by claiming the trial is going "very well" for him.

His sycophants will believe him ... and if/when he is convicted, the idea that it was "going very well" will help him bolster a claim of foul play against him.

Anything to enrage his sycophants .... ugh.

Why is it that the people who brag about being "self-made" aren't?

If you turned out successful odds are you had help, a lot of it, and a good amount of luck on top of that. Imagine being so self absorbed that you don't give credit where credit is due.

I can honestly say that the only K-12 school collaboration I experienced was in high school theater (which is collaborative by default). But that was an extracurricular--not a core course.

Not one of the core courses included collaborative projects.
