I think the generational divide in the workplace can largely be summed up by the older generation pointing to the younger and saying "by the time I was your age, I was in charge” and the younger generation pointing to the older and saying "by the time you were my age, you were in charge."

Every year I get knocked on my back by migraines in February and every year it takes me by surprise. Allergies? Daylight shifts?

@HeatherFromTexas @andrew my migraines are definitely sinus-related, I take 12 hour Sudafed pretty much daily.

@andrew @HeatherFromTexas I've always had touchy sinuses and for years I thought they were sinus headaches and/or infections. But finally I realized the nerves in my scalp were getting super fired up. And after menopause they turned into multi-day affairs. Once my doctor started treating them as migraines we've had much better luck managing the pain. For me a very short course of prednisone does the trick, sometimes just one dose will clear it in 24 hours.

Hi folks — there’s no issue of The Counteroffensive today. Unfortunately I’ve been hospitalized in Kyiv due to a bad infection.

I’m on the mend. However, it’s unclear whether our insurance will cover this stay.

Are you finding Mastodon to be less vibrant/active?

I’m worried that we are not getting as much engagement on our Ukraine war reporting as we used to.

@timkmak I'm already signed up, so I can only boost today. I'm personally not on threads because it scrapes your contacts and has extremely broad TOS' on favor of Zuck having all your data. But I understand lots of journalists are there and it's probably easier to get good reach. I don't have the impression that the engagement is very rich, though. But, obviously, do what makes sense for you, take care of yourselves.

@timkmak it definitely makes sense, although I heartily miss the days when news organizations fully funded their international desks and we could reliably count on centralized news sources. I imagine you miss it even more. It wasn't a perfect model, but I find it so difficult to find and support independent journalists covering all the parts of the world that interest me.

@andrew @law it may not result in the court adopting a code, but it is a shift in conversation in the sense that Durbin particularly was dragging his feet about trying to compel the court to better regulate itself. If Roberts actually cares about legitimacy (which, honestly, I believe less and less) he may feel compelled to act.

Here’s an old person question — growing up there was a huge difference in “who you were” if you were born in say 1980-1983 as against 1984-1987, and then 1988-1990.

Has that been replicated in the 90s or 00s? Is there a granularity to identity based on birth year range?
