Expecting some circuit boards today maybe. Exciting - my first use of right through to actually producing PCBs, though I've worked up a few schematics in the past, and one other PCB layout.

Haven't bought any new boards for a project in a couple of years either, so it's nice for that reason too.

Happy to have dumped from my tool set.

You might be having a bad day, but at least you didnt spend like a decade developing a social media protocol that was structurally incapable of DMs so you needed to make a whole second E2EE protocol

@vwbusguy I like how it tries twice and then it's just "oh I'm wrong? well then nobody knows", like I have definitely met this guy in a grad school seminar

@Viss can't believe we spent DECADES telling people not to copy/paste sudo rm -rf * from forums and these chucklefucks put a goddamn "run commands automatically" checkbox on their random command generator

Somebody should make an OS-agnostic program that searches the hard drive and returns a count of how many versions of Python you have installed

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@mcc I love their recent innovation where pip refuses to install stuff, refers you to your package manager which of course doesn't have it, so you just have to type --break-system-packages like I'm opening the freaking Marauder's Map

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@mcc yes please

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@mcc unfortunately not a complete solution because it's just for installing binaries, not library dependencies

TIL: Mastodon has a /api/v1/annual_reports API that gives some sort of annual report for a given user account?

Was added by @Gargron at the start of the year, but the PR just says MAS-213 (so this API is currently unreleased, iirc)

@vwbusguy well, your watch clocking you is better than your clock watching you

Okay I'm thinking the plethora of clones is probably not in the original Jules Verne manuscript.

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@ottaross is... is that gonna come back into the plot, or was it just a one-off gag about "don't tell Otto about the interesting thing"

@foone @molly0xfff so, it would survive the same way the fried transformers survive, in that they would still exist, but they wouldn't do anything anymore

if your website disables the paste functionality in the password field, you deserve a SPECIAL circle of hell.

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@alcinnz @jollyorc you have to type in passwords rated "very strong" by dumb heuristics, but using the US Treasury's on-screen keyboard

@anderseknert I was wondering if the sign up flow says something like "pick a longer username so people can remember you" but I went through part of the flow in an incognito window and didn't see that
