OODA Loop reminder: you need to constantly re-evaluate the situation and READJUST your assessment of a situation to fit; if you make a decision at one point in time, that is not a "philosophy" but a decision point at that point in time. #oodaloop#situationalawareness
**For example, at one point, 100% masking, N95 outdoors in a crowd was the RIGHT THING to do. Today? Depends on your personal situation/vulnerability, vaccination status, prior exposure, etc.--and people should be educated enough to make their choice: yes, crowd okay? Do I need to mask? Do I not need to mask? You adjust as the circumstances change. Next week? It may change again!
** my current stance (which is conservative) is: no masking outdoors, included in crowds; no masking in good air flow stores <10 people and low likelihood of sick people; yes, N95 masking in large stores and in small spaces, and in particular doctor's offices/hospitals/etc.
@meltedcheese Prevalance of infection in the community, wastewater levels, the variants circulating. Your own choices may be different, obviously. But if you feel like I should not be able to make my own assessment, that is a problem...
@cy Well, in the case of wildfires -- adjust for the time of year, how much moisture is in the vegetation, wind conditions, heat/sunlight. In case of hurricanes, sea surface temperatures, overall weather conditions, development status in the main development zone. etc. etc.
@cy Heatwaves: your location on the globe, current weather patterns/heat domes, reliability of electric grid in the area you are in, access to A/C and cooling. A mild heatwave in Europe, for example, is going to be FAR more impactful than a heatwave in Arizona (where A/C and heat is expected).
"Seven deaths were reported in Cooke County, Texas, near the Oklahoma border, where a tornado Saturday night plowed through a rural area near a mobile home park, officials said. Storms also caused damage in Oklahoma, where guests at an outdoor wedding were injured. Tens of thousands of residents were without power across the region." #SevereWx#TXwx#OKwx#ARwx
