So, over in the astronomy world there is some consternation about a tweet from eminent satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell.

Apparently "Starlink Precipitation" is now a thing. And yes, you got that right, Starlink precipitation is pieces of Elon Musk's fucking internet satellites raining down from space.

As much as I'm enjoying this sunny weather, it does seem disturbingly warm for this time of year. Usually by mid-May it feels icy in Melbourne.

    The meteorologists seem particularly baffled this summer. I keep noticing days (like today) when the temperature only gets to 5° or so below the forecast maximum. Also it's raining, which I think it wasn't supposed to.

    @decryption i've wondered about the legality of those, does it open the shop to defamation claims if the person has not been convicted of anything? We've got a bunch of similar pics on a local shop, albeit black & white. My fave is "CHEESE STEALER!"

    ajft,

    @timrichards experiment for you. Pick it up, move it to be parked against the bike hoop. Stand unobtrusively nearby and wait. Amazing how often people will kick them, push them over or get unreasonably angry at them

    ajft,
    @ajft@aus.social avatar

    @timrichards to be useful you've got to be able to get one and use it. Having dedicated parking spots might work in the CBD, but would spread them too thin to be any use in inner suburbs. Dedicated parking spots would be a co$t to the council and probably, god forbid, remove the almighty car park space (cue tabloid uproar)
