Irreverently irrelevant.

Sysadmin, developer, web dude in a science research agency. WordPress, Straya, Japan, planes, trains, karate, Arduino, Raspberry Pi/Pico, film soundtracks, scifi, puns, dad jokes, etc.

We're mostly vegetarian at home, but I've long since given up ordering the vegetarian option on planes. Too much of a risky dice-throw.

‘One word – disgusting!’ The sad, sorry state of airline vegetarian meals

@timrichards Last couple of Jetstar flights I ordered the vegetarian quiche instead of the meat pie option because it is better (and probably better than all the other hot options based on our limited testing).

What would concern me most is if the wellness and vegan options had any joy added to them, because the passengers definitely don't want that.

Furiosa was partly filmed in the Sutherland Shire (we saw them from a distance). It should feature a vehicle stuck on Audley Weir.

allrite,
@allrite@allrite.at avatar

Furiosa should also feature a scene where she says her name is "It's FurioSAH, not FurioSER" in a posh English accent and then strikes a Queen Terf dead.

Reconsidering my proposed talk title for WordCamp Sydney. Now tempted to go with: "My readers are morons and I'm lazy: Why I use AI to drive traffic to my worthless website."

Not so catchy and I don't actually do this, but I feel like lots are. Also, I don't have cool hair and cool tatts so may not come across as "authentic".

I've got an apocalypse scheduled at 10.30, but I'm free after lunch. Want to meet up then?

"But I'll be dead!"

Yes, but it's a zombie apocalypse, so you'll likely still be moving.

Looks like Sydney Trains is going to drop the jargon from its PA announcements.

From the SMH:

"Commuters will soon be told to “get off” the train, rather than “alight”, after Sydney Trains resolved to overhaul its station announcements to favour colloquial language.

"The phrase “this train terminates here” is also being retired, due to concerns the word “terminates” is difficult to understand."

@ajsadauskas @sydneytrains "This train terminates here" was very frightening for passengers named Sarah or John Connor.

looking at flights to Cairns for a thing and hilariously the way to get there from the Sunshine Coast is via either Sydney or Melbourne. The travel time is measured in days. Normal country.

allrite,
@allrite@allrite.at avatar

@Kels_316 @timrichards @ThermiteBeGiants Seems to be worldwide problem with sleepers. Lots of demand and no availability for short term bookings. Really removes rail as an option for many longer trips.

allrite,
@allrite@allrite.at avatar

@Kels_316 @ThermiteBeGiants @timrichards I do think that rail authorities have been caught short by a return to people wanting to catch the train over flying and their (slow) rolling stock plans don't support this.

It's got a big horse racing pullout section and Harvey Norman adverts too.

Ewoks.

Where are they?

Why aren't there statues and cuddly toys of them everywhere, celebrating their role in overthrowing the Empire?

There should at least be a movie about the culture shock that an Ewok experiences when it visits Coruscant.
