OK, I've finally taken a look at my broken Asian SuperLoop antenna, and indeed, the resistor got broken 😢 namely, the wires at both ends.

I replaced it with a new one :)

Seems to work; how well - time will tell :) Asian signals are way too weak at the moment. But 1386 Lithuania is also poor... #mediumwave #mwdx

A big protest yesterday - and a big interview today 🙂

Like in good old pre-PiS days, three major TV stations in #Poland are joining forces to show an hour-long interview with Prime Minister Donald Tusk today evening, the first since taking office a month ago.

A list of channels to show the interview is pretty long:

Polsat
Polsat News
Polsat News Polityka
TVN 24

However, out of four most important channels (also TVP 2), only TVN is NOT planning to carry it.

2 years ago I was fortunate to capture RRI Pro-4 Banda Aceh Interval Signal all the way from Indonesia 🇮🇩 into NE Poland on 1251 kHz. Back then, it was listed as 10kW, so this was a remarkable catch ✈️

Today I got a comment to my YouTube video of the station that they're now running at 5kW❗

Unfortunately I don't know when the power decrease took effect. Was it 5kW already when I received them in Nov 2021 or when John in Skegness🇬🇧 got them in Sep '23?

M7.6 #earthquake as it happened, interrupting NHK General TV sports programming. Looks like there was a M5.7 beforeshock which did not prompt tsunami issues but note how = YL announcer's voice gets more & more serious as EEW after EEW blinks out covering more & more prefectures. Eventually, #Tsunami warnings enters around 7 minutes into the recording... and she almost loses her mind, literally shouting "HINAN!!! HINAN!!!" (RUN!!! RUN!!!)

I've managed to snag the mysterious 1kHz test tone that's been mysteriously running & running for a few months on 1542 kHz AM.

Location believed to be somewhere in Taiwan 🇹🇼, which is also indicated by a fact other monitors, using KiwiSDRs in the area, noted the signal absent on Dec 25 = Constitution Day in Taiwan 🙂

Unfortunately most other Asians are remarkably anemic, even 1377 CNR1 😕 #mediumwave #mwdx #1542kHz

Looking at 49m band ahead of my annual New Year's Eve radio monitoring project in a few days. At this moment (1500-1600z), my focus would be Chinese or Korean domestic stations. Including North Korea 🇰🇵

So... 6100 KCBS is blocked @ 1400-1500z by CRI/CGTN Radio in English also on 6100. And also blocked @ 1500-1600z by CRI russian on 6105! So it's a lost cause 😞 And anyway, after 1600z, when this freq is finally clear... there's nearly no signal vs local streetlight noise 😩 #shortwave

Confederation: 6.4%, 14

Right-wing coalition (PiS + Conf.) = 212 seats

I covered a Warsaw district where voting didn't finish until 0:10.

But in Wrocław, there's an even more extreme case: a peripheral district of Jagodno, which saw its population grow by 227% in 15 years, is still voting!

There was HOURS' long break in voting there because the sole electoral commission for the district failed to get more cards delivered. Some are waiting for 6 hours now!

People help each other, delivering tea, pizza, and jackets.

As back in June, Polish opposition leader Donald Tusk is holding a large rally in support of their fight against the right-wing PiS government.

The rally is called #MarszMilionaSerc or #MarchOfAMillionHearts.

Uninterrupted live coverage is running even on the main TVN channel, free & nationwide on terrestrial TV.

Also on TVN24 and competing Polsat News, which are both paid... but NOT on "public" #TVPiS disInfo. I'm sure they're processing it "accordingly" though...

Physical radio, using real antennas, picking up real radio waves rather than streaming, with all its quirks, limitations, and occasional anomalies 😲.

Currently my main focus is Sporadic-E propagation, which allows FM radio stations, normally restricted to line-of-sight reach, to travel thousands of km's away ✈️

Fuck, I got home late for Voice of Turkiye (sic) English news @ 1830z on 5945 kHz... so I now have to look for Turkish TV streams...

The reason is obvious: #elections in #Turkey #Turkiye.

So here we go, and I think this is kinda surprising: #Erdogan #50.83% - #Kilicdaroglu 43.36%. That at least according to state-run TRT. Recent polls had been giving a 4%+ lead for the united opposition candidate...

Oh, and they do insert banner ads in their coverage 🙃
