im thinking of getting an ereader, but cant find many foss devices. i dont plan on connecting it to the internet, so i suppose it doesnt matter if its controlled by amazon right? love to hear your thoughts…
Ebook readers are so so good… One of my best purchases as well… I do recommend Kobo however, as to break Amazon’s monopoly. You can sideload books and even install a different OS/software. I use koreader, but there are others.
I’ve been plugging away for about 2 months now trying to grow a small hobby community here on Lemmy. It’s doing well, up from 200 to 425 subscribers in the time I’ve been active....
I’m curious what people here listen to, and I’m also looking for new ones to check out. I’m personally a big fan of Linux Unplugged, MBMBaM, Lateral, and Twenty Thousand Hertz!...
Found my fitness by Rhonda Patrick, for nutritional/exercise science. One of the few podcasts I know that are actually science based, with proper sources and all.
Ahhhh! Oh, so obvious. Sorry, I thought you were calling the activists “Water flowers”, as in, “sensitive emotional kids” or something to that point… Sorry, my bad!
I’ve used most available services, but discontinued one after another along with promises that a better user experience will be provided with reduced content and removed functionality with the slight price hike. YouTube was my first and last video service I paid for, only Spotify remains on the borderline.
I’ll start off by saying everyone’s economic situations are just as varied as their threat models and how people make decisions on which services can be specific to themself and not one that can apply to anyone else. The services one chooses to use for free or to pay for may be based more on what they can afford vs what’s...
I think they are unnecessarily expensive for email. I would rather go with tutanota. I don’t like having all my eggs in one basket. Calendar/email/contacts in one provider and VPN service in another is the way to go, in my opinion.
Of note, the article is mostly about why extreme heat waves are more likely near the poles, with the current warming playing a limited role in this particular event:...
The absolute shit worst is that things are just going to worsen… If the climate is hellish (hot, stormy, etc), then the likelihood of green means of transportation catching on are just hard. No one is going to ride a bike in 40 degrees celcius. Nor when it is stormy outside.
A few years ago Joe had some great guests and discussions, such as Rhonda Patrick, Matthew Walker, Paul Stamets, etc… I started improving myself and following these people thanks to Joe’s podcast. I am thankful for that.
Nowadays, every few months I check to see if he had any lifestyle/science person but I never find anything… Is he just not inviting these types of people or am I just missing them?
Let’s be honest, the rankings of gnome-look are weird at best and there is no good resource to gauge what icons / cursors / themes people like to use in their everyday DE....
Yes, and I am not against paying for the work of others, of course. Though I do find the theme a bit too expensive and am out of funds right now. Perhaps in the future. Though I have tried many themes in the past and ended up not liking theme. Paying for a theme and then not liking/using it is a bit… Hard to swallow…
But yes, it is a one time payment. Can you imagine if even themes start being subscription based? 5usd/month to use a fucking theme… We are not that far off hahah
Not only is medito free, it is ran by a non profit and the app is open source. It is what meditation should be. Putting meditation behind a steep pay wall is just pathetic.
