Feels late in the game to be adding new percussion to my track, but here we are.

Windows 11 is such a hot mess that I am now committed to at least trying SteamOS on this laptop. Just need to find a USB stick to boot from.

Also today; final mastering of Crimson Tide my Game of Thrones inspired folk song for .

Oh and my weekly guitar/music lesson.

And then a late night gaming session on the PS5 to re-run the new Remnant 2 DLC.

I should probably get my ass out of bed then.

I’m ashamed to be Scottish today 😞 the vile comments that have been going around since resigned are disgusting. I honestly thought as a whole we had moved past this racist hatred 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@tanepiper @Ghastwood any example of “those on the left” ? I see this line being trotted out and don’t really understand it / observe it

Happy Birthday Robert Smith, lead guitarist of Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1982 to 1984 and continuous member of post-punk band The Cure since 1978, born on this day in 1959 in Black Pool, UK

Looking for an artist to create cover art for a new single I want to release called "Bury my Chicken". It's a punk song and I'm imaging a cartoon of a group of punks/goths at funeral for a chicken in someone's backyard. Paid work. Let me know if interested.

Are there known bugs with regards trying to scroll scrollable elements in a website which has been zoomed into, on mobile Chrome/Chromium?

@sarajw also fine on WebKit browsers from what I can see (iOS Safari, DuckDuckgo). That Winamp thing is really cool.

My dress has pockets, she screamed. The pockets were filled with unimaginable things, falling, overflowing, slinking, and crawling around. I finally have somewhere to keep my things, she shrieked. The things joined her with their own harmonious hum, a slimey symphony. I am never alone now, she whispered, shadows passed behind her eyes.

Went into the studio to record some guitar and decided to strip the last of the wall paper instead. Decorator coming on Jan 23rd so I’m ahead of the game 💪

A scan of my music studio in a state of poor decoration. Music desk and couch in the center of the room.

I don’t buy that Threads can bring anything good to the Fediverse.

Threads users won’t know or care about Fediverse so adoption or awareness is just a fallacy.

Meta will just steal information and/or inject ads.

Does Threads have a single instance that can be blocked? If so, what is it?

I'm outsourcing creation of a music video via Fiverr.

So far it seems like if the person only has a small number of reviews they are really desperate for your work. Lots of questions and very pushy.

If the person is a Fiverr Select they are extremely nonchalant. Minimal interaction. Don't see to give a shit.

The sweet spot seems to be folks with > 500 reviews with a good rating. But we'll see how this goes!

    @krzyzanowskim try again in 18 months. It’s still an infant.

    brindy,
    @brindy@mastodon.scot avatar

    @krzyzanowskim April I think yeah, but I’m more talking about capability than knowledge. It would have done a better job of the Swift if it was able to describe that image better and that will come eventually.

    Regarding Swift specifically I find it doesn’t do as well as other languages like JavaScript or python. I suspect that while the knowledge is available there’s more content weighted towards other languages so it just learns those better.

    brindy,
    @brindy@mastodon.scot avatar

    @krzyzanowskim What happened when you fed that description in and simply asked it create a SwiftUI view from it? Was your screenshot the result?

    I find that, like a child, you need to lead it on a journey to get to the output you want. It will definitely get better.

    brindy,
    @brindy@mastodon.scot avatar

    @krzyzanowskim Looks like it has cascaded some assumptions, starting with 'this is an iPhone app'. As a human familar with app development I'd say that was a web page and would ask it to describe the UI in those terms instead. This is the kind of context that AI is missing just now: experience.

    But still, what it created is not bad.

    Question for folks out there who use "high contrast" mode on iOS

    ... if an app is AAA accessibility compliant, does that negate the need for high contrast mode?

    Or another way of asking, if an app doesn't support high contrast mode explicitly but is AAA compliant, is it still usable for you?

    The Weather Lock Screen widget is returning a broken symbol for me, and I think(?) I might actually know what specific bug this is?

    WeatherKit returns "snow" as the SFSymbol for snowy conditions, which isn't a valid symbol. It's "snowflake." I had to write an if check for this exact problem in a little WeatherKit app I've been tinkering with.

    @michaelsteeber why bother with the interpolation though, why not just hardcode it at that point?

    If you work at a company which has fully-remote employees, just how "full" is the "fully remote”?

    I.e., are folks still required to show up in person for interviews and/or periodic onsite/offsite gatherings? [poll]

    brindy,
    @brindy@mastodon.scot avatar

    @bitprophet we have an annual all hands retreat and an annual functional team retreat and then subsidised additional retreats as needed / desired but all optional since covid and that’s unlikely to change.
