I go to fix one bug and pretty soon I'm revamping an entire interface. It's the story of my life. This is what happens when indie developers don't have product managers telling them what to do. The agony and the ecstasy.
@danielpunkass I went to fix some build warnings the other day and ended up switching to a different crash reporting framework! Fixed the warnings in the process though. 😬
Teen parenting tip: If your teen is experiencing drama centered on one of their friends ignoring them in this connected age…encourage them to at least consider the possibility that their friend is napping. You’d be surprised how often that is the explanation.
Strange science facts: In nuclear power, functional nuclear fission reactors were constructed as early as 1942, yet nuclear fusion remains elusive and can only be achieved for short periods. In jazz, on the other hand, jazz fusion was invented in the early 70s, and jazz fission remains purely theoretical even today
My not very hot #StarTrek take today is that Star Trek VI is the best Star Trek movie followed by IV (the one with the whales) and Wrath of Khan, and that V and III aren’t that bad.
The only one that is hard to watch is The Motion Picture.
@schwa I think back when WWDC was in person those tickets were (mostly) lottery, especially since I had like a 50% success rate which would make no sense otherwise. But yeah for these one day events I don't see what incentive they would even have to keep it random.
Today I'm starting the task of reintegrating the Widgetsmith visionOS branch with the main iOS branch, which I (foolishly) developed somewhat separately in order to keep progress moving forward on both concurrently.
@_Davidsmith Have you ever used git-imerge? I’ve found it quite useful for merging extremely diverged branches.
The basic idea is, instead of merging everything at once, it iterates through each commit in both branches and does lots of little merges.
If it hits a conflict, it stops to let you resolve it, but you’re only resolving one commit’s worth of changes each time, which is much easier to wrap your head around.
My Apple developer account renewed today, so in honor of that here's the very first rejection email I ever received for the App Store. Yes, this is exactly as it was sent 😅
