All the automation, rigid forms that can’t account for any atypical backgrounds, keyword systems that miss all the context.

    im grappling with the reality that, at once, i will never perceive myself in the way i would like to, and my wife is never going to be attracted to me solely for any physical feature regardless of what i do to my body.

    @0x00string When I was in the military, I would go to crazy lengths to make the height/weight for my PT tests. Physically, I was in great shape as I could knock out the running, pushups and situps with ease, but making weight was something that I struggled with. In high school I was on the wrestling team so I was constantly judging myself with making weight.

    Eventually I got married and all that jazz, but have definitely put on the pounds. I'm making strides to getting back in shape, but I know my body isn't what it was when I married my wife. The biggest thing is that she loves me for me, and is proud of the health commitments I'm making. She doesn't judge my body as harshly as I do, and I'm slowly accepting that.

    I know this is an essay here, but long story short - she love you for you, keep at it with the health journey but don't judge yourself too harshly. I know - easier said than done.

    My oldest will be commuting to community college next year so she'll be taking my car (a plug-in Prius). My wife has been concerned about us possibly getting a third car BUT I think I might have a better solution: an e-bike.

    My current job has me a few miles from the house, and I'm currently exploring remote/hybrid possibilities. Anyone with e-bike experience, what should I be looking for in an e-bike? Anything bikes I should consider or stay away from? I'm in the US if that matters.

    @schizanon @miyelsh ohhhh this looks cool too! And it looks pretty simple to install. I think with these options, it wouldn't hurt at all to convert my Salsa Fargo to be an ultimate commute/do-it-all bike

    How's the state of remote work looking like in the US? I've been an in-office worker for quite some time but it seems as if this "post COVID" has sorta wreaked havoc on the concept of remote work. I'd love to find something remote (or even hybrid for that matter) but it's looking slim these days.

    @0x00string I don't lift like I used to but used to rock chucks. So did most of the big lifters in the gym.

    @0x00string Unfortunately I can't really answer that...but I've seen dudes rock full on military boots doing lunges in the gym when I was active. In the end, it'll all come down to personal preference. Personally, I think you'll be fine in high top chucks
