genuine question:

several times per day, I hear honking from random drivers as they pass by my house, usually in this pattern:

--*----

can someone explain why?

trendless, to random

“Immunity Debt Means SARS-CoV-2 Is Good For Your Health, Actually”

-- The New York Trying Times

croissant,
@croissant@zeroes.ca avatar

@trendless 💧️ pseudoscience like "immunity debt" will easily spread because it lets people believe that their communities and leaders aren't harming them. that's it, really. the more the evidence points to the wanton harm, the more others will need to believe that this is for their own good

Omfg. 🤦‍♂️ Pass the tequila we are doomed. 🍹 The inmates are running the asylum.

"This is because we contracted fewer illnesses than normal, meaning our immune systems need time to adjust to less Covid-19 present. It may mean that we become sick more easily for a while." - https://www.standard.co.uk/news/health/why-everyone-ill-uk-flu-covid-immunity-b1131272.html

I should do the whole sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y thing, huh?

croissant,
@croissant@zeroes.ca avatar

@steven 🌟️ Definitely won't hurt if it's Debian. The && in the command line only runs the next command if the first succeeds, and you almost always want to run an upgrade after updating the package DB anyway. Running them in tandem is probably the best way to do it. As for auto-accepting the upgrade, well, I'm pretty sure most sysadmins don't actually check which packages are being upgraded.

So, basically, no.

🌶️ Hey remember how the early pandemic strategy for most governments was to assume that long-term effects would be minimal and would only affect a small portion of immune-naïve survivors of the initial wave of disease?

Remember how this is the strategy that is still being employed despite the overwhelming body of evidence suggesting that this is a Bad Idea?

The CDC is so catastrophically bad, I see them posting half-decent ventilation guidelines and I'm immediately suspicious what their gameplan is.

How does this fit into their inevitable quadrupling down on COVID minimization?

croissant,

@reinhilde 🌟️ I'm going to be honest, I think those with a more cautious nature took the time to really listen to the warnings made by disabled people at the start of the pandemic.
