You know what really pisses me off lately? People who keep talking about the cult of Donald Trump like it was some kind of anomaly. Donald Trump is a direct descendant of the biggest cult figure and mass hypnotist of all time. His name was Ronald Reagan and we're all still paying for his presidency in one way or another. Every June 5th, I still cheer the day he died.

@cassidy well when I saw they won’t go there I mean you’re not going to see anyone going back in time and changing timelines etc. heck, anakin is there, if anyone could and should do that it’s him n fix all of it. Just to add. Even if you don’t like Star Wars you should watch Ahsoka for the late great Ray Stevenson alone. This his last role before he passed. And he’s brilliant in it. Such a presence. Dark and dangerous.

Qween rocked Cobh on Sunday night, the last night of the Cobh People’s Regatta 2023. They’re an outstanding Queen tribute band, and they played all the hits, and soon had everyone singing along, dancing and cheering to the music. A short break in the middle of the set was required for the fireworks at 10pm, but the music started up shortly afterwards to the delight of everyone around.

There was a stretch when Elon Musk took over twitter and started charging for blue checks (lmao) and some of his sycophants started talking about “Veblen goods.”

A Veblen good is something for which demand increases as price increases, in contact to the neoclassical orthodoxy that demand decreases axiomatically with price.

Veblen goods are things that rich people buy to signal their wealth and status. Jewelry, fancy watches, yachts, Ivy League degrees. Things that cost many thousands or millions of dollars.

The idea that an $8 verification on twitter would ever be a status symbol for the rich was fucking ludicrous.
